English and EAL The EAL department supports students in becoming proficient English language users in order to develop socially, and achieve academic success across all areas of the curriculum. We want to encourage all students to not be afraid to make mistakes ! Students will be rewarded for taking risks and trying hard to speak English more in lessons. Teachers will issue ENGLISH EFFORT (EE) rewards in student diaries for those who strive to share their ideas more, those who are trying hard to improve their accuracy in their spoken English, students who try to speak in more depth, and for those applying newly acquired vocabulary.
English and EAL For students who require additional language support, we provide direct support through the Enhance after school English programme as well as in-class assistance. Students recommended for the programme will receive further information during the first week of term. Additionally, support is provided through liaison with the class teachers, especially in adapting materials to suit the needs of the EAL students. A strong home language that continues to develop alongside the acquisition of English has been proven to be the best way for success in learning English. Furthermore a strong home language is fundamental to the children’s overall emotional and academic development. Our EAL team believes that a close relationship with parents can help the children learn quickly and effectively.
All students should carry an appropriate English reading book. Reading is encouraged in homeroom and outside of school!
No Bullying Zone Students will explore the issue of bullying and cyberbullying as part of their homeroom provision, assemblies and through drama. We want to ask for your support to encourage all of our community to respect each other’s differences, monitor the use of social networks and speak to your child regularly about any issues they may be facing. Any concerns that are raised regarding suspected bullying with be investigated thoroughly and we will always communicate with parents if there is a problem. Students are encouraged to speak out against bullying and report it to their teachers, head of year or the deputy headteacher. If you suspect your child is being bullied, please contact the heads of year immediately so that we can solve any issues fast.
SELF - ANS School Counseling Being a teenager is hard sometimes! There is no shame in needing someone to talk to or extra confidential support. We now have two professional counselors working at ANS for our students. Please contact kerriw@amnuaysilpa.ac.th if you would like to discuss any concerns about your child. SELF can support with group friendship issues, individual counseling and the team will be running workshops throughout the year.
