First Annual International Creativity Collaborative Creativity and Innovation in an Interdisciplinary and Multicultural World Thursday evening, October 16, 2014 through Saturday evening, October 18, 2014 The First Annual International Creativity Collaborative (ICC) will be convened in Athens, GA this fall. As a state of the art conference, the ICC will facilitate the creation of a global network of creativity researchers with the goal of fostering connections in creativity research and applications on an international scale. Specifically, the ICC conference will forge new relationships and cultivate communication among creativity researchers, faculty, students, and practitioners in the field. In turn, we hope the establishment of this global network of research and practice will promote the importance of creativity research in fostering creative people as citizens of an innovative society. Organized around the theme of "Creativity and Innovation in an Interdisciplinary and Multicultural World," this conference is designed to convene interested scholars and innovators of our time around this topic. The ICC is a State-of-the-Art Conference sponsored by the UGA Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research in Education and Human Development, and the Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development. Keynote Speakers Dean Keith Simonton , University of California, Davis Keynote Address: Diversifying Experiences and Creative Development: Historiometric, Psychometric, and Experimental Findings Dean Keith Simonton (PhD 1975 Harvard University) is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Davis. His bibliography lists more than 470 publications, including more than a dozen books. Among the latter are Genius, Creativity, and Leadership; Scientific Genius; Greatness; Genius and Creativity; Origins of Genius; Great Psychologists and Their Times; Creativity in Science; Genius 101; and Great Flicks. Simonton received the William James Book Award, Sir Francis Galton Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Study of Creativity, the Rudolf Arnheim Award for Outstanding Achievement in Psychology and the Arts, the Theoretical Innovation Prize in Personality and Social Psychology, the George A. Miller Outstanding Article Award, the E. Paul Torrance and President ’ s Awards from the National Association for Gifted Children, the Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Media Psychology Award, three Mensa Awards for Excellence in Research, and the Joseph B. Gittler Award for “ the most scholarly contribution to the philosophical foundation of psychological knowledg e.” He is Fellow of several professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Society, and eleven divisions of the American Psychological Association (APA). He has served as President of the International Association of Empirical Aesthetics, the Society for the Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts (APA, Division 10), and the Society for General Psychology (APA, Division 1). His research concentrates on various aspects of genius, creativity, leadership, talent, and aesthetics. He recently edited the Wiley Handbook of Genius, the first handbook ever devoted to that subject.

Barbara Kerr and Nicole Farmer , University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS Keynote Address: A Place of Their Own: The Role of Makerspaces and STEAM Labs in Developing the Talents of Creative Students Barbara Kerr, Ph.D. holds an endowed chair as Distinguished Professor of Counseling Psychology at the University of Kansas and is an American Psychological Association Fellow. Her M.A. from the Ohio State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri are both in counseling psychology. Her research has focused on the development of talent, creativity, and optimal states, while training psychologists and counselors to be talent scouts who provide positive, strengths-based services. She founded the Guidance Laboratory for Gifted and Talented at the University of Nebraska; was Associate Director of the Belin-Blank National Center for Gifted and Talented at the University of Iowa; and co-director of the National Science Foundation projects for talented at risk girls at Arizona State University. She is editor of the recent Encyclopedia of Giftedness, Creativity, and Talent Development, and author of Smart Girls: A New Psychology of Girls, Women, and Giftedness; A Handbook for Counseling Gifted and Talented; co-author of Smart Boys: Talent, Masculinity, and the Search for Meaning, Counseling Girls and Women and over one hundred articles, chapters, and papers in the area of giftedness, talent, and creativity. She currently directs the Counseling Laboratory for the Exploration of Optimal States (CLEOS) at the University of Kansas, a research through service program that identifies and guides creative adolescents. With Karen Multon, she has co-directed the NSF Project, Milestones and Danger Zones for STEM Women.
