Three Characteristics of a Good Assessment Reliability Validity Usability
Reliability Test reliability is the consistency of scores students would receive on alternate forms of the same test. Due to many variables, no two forms will consistently produce identical results. CMGE uses randomized forms to protect the validity of the assessment.

Validity Assessment validity asks is the test justified and accurate. Validity is based on various types of evidence: • High Reliability: with scores assigned consistently (reliability), it is possible to conclude that the scores accurately measure what is being assessed. • Expertise of designers: our designers have a combined 50 years of assessment design and administration experience in ESL and International Student Programs. • Affirmation in the field: ELL department heads, ISP school coordinators, and ISP managers in large and small school districts and in prestigious private schools are satisfied with the results – it measures what it says it measures – students’ ability with English in classrooms where English is the medium of instruction.
