Purpose of the OJT Program The primary objective of this program is to train and upgrade minorities, women, and disadvantaged persons toward journey level status to ensure that a competent workforce is available to meet highway construction hiring needs, and to address the historical under-representation of members of these groups in highway construction skilled crafts.
Getting Started with OJT If your project is over $2,000,000.00 and is 275 or more original contract days (2016 Standard Specification 7-25). Prior to starting a project the Resident Compliance Specialist (RCS) will schedule a meeting with the contractor and PA to discuss: Amount of OJT Trainees for the project Required forms Answer any questions regarding OJT Provide the opportunity to complete the OJT forms while all required signing parties are present
OJT Forms OJT Schedule (form # 275-020-96) : All project identification must be filled out in its entirety Training classifications listed Start and end dates for training indicated in the space to the right underneath corresponding hours
OJT Forms Proficiency Record (form # 275-021-01): Section 1: All project identification must be filled out in its entirety Section 2: Proficiency standards should be filled out and signed by contractor Section 3: Section 4, 5 & 6 are completed during proficiency observation
OJT Forms Trainee Enrollment (form # 275-020-08): Section 1: All project identification must be filled out in its entirety What applies under Section 2: Trainee identification should be filled out with trainee’s signature Single form that spans a employee’s training
OJT Forms Monthly Time Report (275-021-31): To be filled out weekly, by contractor, indicating hours spent on each task under “Breakdown of Training” Monthly Time Report is required to be submitted to RCS on or before the 10 th of every month for time accumulated the previous month after training begins
OJT (cont.) Trainee Interview (form # 275-021-02): This will be completed by the inspector, RCS, PA, PM or authorized FDOT project representative prior to enrollment approval Proficiency Observation (form # 275-021-01): This will be completed by an authorized FDOT project representative once the trainee is ready to graduate Optional Forms: Request for new OJT classification (form # 275-021-14) Daily-weekly time report (form # 275-021-12) Contact your Resident Compliance Specialist with questions regarding banking credits
