JSD 117 Mission Statement & Goals ● Our goal in the Jacksonville School District is to be a partner with you in order to prepare our students to be successful. ● What does this mean? ○ We want to communicate with you often about the progress of your child both socially and academically. Please also communicate with us about anything that you are concerned about or that you would like to know more about. We are here to work with you. ○ We also expect our parents to come to our Parent/Teacher conferences. These will be held in October and February of each year.
Arrival Procedures & Attendance ● Students may arrive at North between 7:30 am and 7:50 am. ● To help with smooth transitions for both parents and student, please give them a hug and drop your student off at the sidewalk. ● Students will sit in the gym in the K section making sure the morning begins smoothly until the bell rings. There is NO supervision before 7:30! Any students arriving in the classroom after 8:00 will be marked tardy. ● ATTENDANCE IS KEY! ● Tardiness and absences = lost learning time

North is free breakfast and free lunch for the whole school! ● Students will eat lunch and enjoy recess from 11:00-11:40. ● We have a snack each morning. PLEASE send snacks if you are able to help. Our favorites include: crackers, cereal, pretzels, fruit snacks, fresh fruit/veggies.
Let’s Stay Healthy ● Sleep is key! Kindergarten is exhausting! Research shows that 5-6 year olds need 10-12 hours of sleep each night to be ready to learn and grow. ● Please call the school office to report an absence and the reason for the absence to the office before 8:00. ● If your child becomes sick at school, you will be called. This includes a temperature over 100 or other illness. Please be sure that emergency contact info is current! ● Students must have a physical, dental, and eye exam on record with the office.
