What do we do for the community? • Promote, store, exhibit & preserve Niagara-on-the- Lake’s unique material culture (incl. 30,000 Town documents) • Provide heritage information to Town Staff and assist with public research requests • Offer free admission to the community on special days and all of February • Provide educational programs & events for local residents & tourists – average of 80 per year • Increase accessibility to our resources through digitization – over 3,500 items on online database with more added annually, plus a large number of research documents available through www.niagarahistorical.museum

2019 Programming • Monthly Lecture Series focuses on Art & Fashion • Monthly Biography Discussion Group: Famous & Infamous • Walking Tours: June- September on Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am, starting in Queen’s Royal Park • Neighbourhood Walks: Queen Street Estates and Irish Town/Rye Park – Fridays in June at 6 pm • Past is Present Heritage Festival: Historic demos, food, live music, treasures sale and more – August 5th, 11 am – 4 pm • Kid Curators Summer Camp: One week in July, one week in August • Participation in community events: Canada Day, Peach Festival, St. Davids Heritage Day

What For? • General operation & maintenance of the Museum and our heritage buildings • Staffing- to maintain the collection and to provide better, local heritage, community programming for ALL Niagara-on-the-Lake communities • Non-discretionary expenses continually increase, resulting in more strain on fundraising needs. • Benchmark funding- to bring us to the average set by other Municipalities in Niagara
Future Plans – The Tiny Museum • Tiny Museum project is a mobile museum which goes to schools and community events • Currently spent $10,000 on trailer and building plans; $20,000 additional donations received; Trillium grant pending for $125,000
Future Plans - Expansion • Museum expansion – currently in architectural drawing phase for a new build behind Memorial Hall • Municipal Heritage Committee has seen draft drawings and is supportive • New space will increase storage space, have an area for programs, lectures, etc, and more exhibition space
