  7. OPSB and NOPS will focus on three areas: Early childhood education, educator talent, and strategically allocated resources. New Orleans public schools takes a holistic approach: Emphasis on music education • Historically, music has been a corner stone of New Orleans school culture with marching bands being a proud tradition • New Orleans has produced some of America’s best musicians starting back with legends like Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton • That endures today: Trombone Shorty, Harry Connick, Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Aaron Neville, Terrance Blanchard, Jon Batiste, Dr. John, & Pete Fountain, just to name a few • In and out of school - we dance, we sing, we play, we learn, we teach • But some schools can’t afford instruments or instructors 9

  10. Expanding VH1 Save The Music Partnership in New Orleans In 2017, the VH1 Save The Music donated $60,000 worth of grant package to Morris Jeff Community School for instruments to help them start a band. In 2018, we are looking to further expand this great partnership! 10
