New Cabin Standards • A tightly framed floor set above ground on solid foundations. • Build to be rodent proof. • Should be Insulated (recommended by MoF). • Roof able to bear or shed heavy snow loads. • A safe and sound wood stove. • Must include a separate outhouse. • Have an attractive exterior finish. • Consider a fire extinguisher and 1 st aid kit.

  9. Cabin Design Guidelines • A treated lumber floor. (rodent proof) • Insulation to be closed cell board. (rodent proof) • Use snow load design figures as per RDKB. • Metal roofing is best for fire and rodent proofing. • Use lumber, timber or log framing. (no shacks) • Approved woodstove, chimney through the roof. • Separate woodshed keeps rats away from cabin. • Solid, unlocked door and several windows. • Plan for cabin ventilation.
