Relaxed performances are designed to create an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere for young people with learning and How we promote sensory difficulties and their families to experience Theatre. Access & Inclusion 1 st Theatre to provide a quiet area to be used for all Access needs- Foyle room in the Piazza We have applied for funding to provide a “changing place” as current accessible toilets throughout the Cityside no longer meet the requirements of disabled individuals who need assistance from one or more carers. Additional plans include adaptation of backstage dressing rooms/ toilets into fully accessible en-suite dressing facilities. Installation of folding portable ramps, door widening backstage to accommodate extra large wheelchairs & a portable hearing enhancement system 25 Forum Staff completed Autism Impact Training and we have 2 Autism Champions who have achieved the Autism Impact Award

  12. The Millennium Forum is a pro-active forward thinking organisation and being part of the access and inclusion project for cultural venues has helped us to ensure we deliver our vision. Some of the Benefits: q Since Councils appointment of Inclusion & Access Co-ordinator in December 2015, We have actively been part of Councils working group for cultural venues encouraging greater networking with other venues/organisations allowing us to share resources and expertise q q The Group has provided us with an extensive accessibility audit of our building, which we use as our Access The Group has provided us with an extensive accessibility audit of our building, which we use as our Access Action Plan q We have generated many new ideas for projects and festivals ensuring accessibility is always at the forefront & are working closely with Council on an Annual Arts Disability Festival We have increased our focus on Staff training courses for a range of disabilities and are pro-active in their q promotion and delivery q We have, through the group created realistic objectives that support Inclusion and Accessibility within our Venue and District Council Area.

In 2015 we were the 1st theatre in Ireland to introduce q Dementia Friendly performances. q The Millennium Forum recognises and embraces the challenges that a life with dementia presents to people with dementia and the people that support them. q We create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere. q Our staff have taken part in workshops and are Dementia Friends. q In 2016 we also introduced Dementia Singing Sessions and in 2017 a staff member has now become a Dementia champion. q Additionally the Millennium Forum won the dementia friendly organisation of the year.

  14. Millennium Forum has toured in-house productions to every City throughout Ireland such as the 10,000 Seat Odyssey Arena and some major UK Venues. One of our current Touring Productions is proving popular on a World Stage. Titanicdance is an Irish Musical Dance sensation which has received tremendous critical acclaim. An Inspirational love story, it charts the journey of the world’s most famous ship from its beginning in the Belfast Shipyard to its tragic end in the Atlantic Ocean Titanicdance showcased at the China International Arts Festival in Qinghai in Aug 2016 where it was seen by a live TV audience in excess of 750m. Tours to the USA followed in 2016 culminating in a highly successful UK/Ireland/China tour in 2017 where the production played to nearly 50,000 people from Beijing to Belfast including a large outdoor performance at a major festival in Shanghai
