Mobile Apps  A mobile app are comput er programs designed t o run on mobile devices such as smart phones and t ablet comput ers.  Most such devices are sold wit h several apps included as pre-inst alled soft ware, such as a web browser, email client , calendar, mapping program, and an app for buying music or ot her media or more apps.  The t wo biggest app st ores are  Google Play for Android and  App Store

NOOK – S imilar t o t he Kindle, t he Nook is feat ured by Barnes and Noble, and has many new 2. releases for sale as well as a small select ion of free reading mat erials. KOBO – Kobo is an e-reader company t hat was est ablished in Toront o, Canada, and is t he 3. second most used e-reader in t he world aft er t he Kindle. It ’s most commonly used in Canada, and host s a large assort ment of books. FREE BOOKS –The Free Books app provides 23,469 classic t it les for your select ion, and 4. allows for highlight ing, not es, dict ionary support , and bookmarks, which make it an asset for any library.

It is one of t he largest online informat ion sources across t he globe, so it has a lit t le bit of everyt hing, and Wikipanion was designed t o easily access t he informat ion in Wikipedia.  Mango Mobile –The Mango Mobile Library Edit ion helps wit h language learning and is free for bot h iPhone and Android users. Wit h t his app you can t ake cult ural lessons and hear t he proper pronunciat ion of words by nat ive speakers. This is a wonderful way for librarians t o enj oy books wit h ot her languages feat ured t hroughout t hem, and also t o share t hose books wit h children in reading programs and ot her event s held at t he library

From this application a librarian can stay in the loop of different global subj ects a nd factual information that might be required for later proj ects and for personal k nowledge.  NewsRack – NewsRack is an RSS reader for global news which include crucial top st ories from many countries and can be used by librarians to stay informed on an ab undance of subj ects. This is a great way to connect with the news before work or t o look up a top story for research purposes.
