PTA Supports Students, Parents & Teachers What does PTA fund? ● Students - Freshman Transition - Freshman Challenge Day - Student leadership - Student planner/publications - Scholarships/awards - Math competitions - Service learning - Graduation programs Parents/Community - BearNotes - Parent education - Canned Food Drive - COVID relief Teachers - Mini-grants - Staff appreciation - Essential classroom supplies Your contributions fund these activities: donate at mabearspta.org ● $250 suggested donation, $20 minimum donation ○ Goal: 550 members ○ We cannot do it without your help - we need parent volunteers! ● -

  6. English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC) ELAC advises the Principal and Site Council on the effectiveness and needs of M-A’s program for its 400+ English Learners (ELs). About 120 M-A students take English Language Development classes & about 300 are long-term English Learners. ELAC parent members are a core group within M-A’s comprehensive series of Parent Events and Trainings on High School Effectiveness and Preparation for College.

  7. M-A Sports Boosters Success! M-A High School Athletics has been successful winning the Commissioners Cup 11 straight times! ★ In 2018, our football team won its first ever Div 3 State Championship! ★ Numerous other PAL Team, as well as individual Conference Championships! ★ Support! M-A Sports Boosters is made up of 16 parents, community members, businesses and alumni. ★ We raise approximately $225K each and every year, to fill the gap required to be successful. ★ Our ask is $250 per athlete or whatever amount may be considered a meaningful gift for your family. ★ Supplies! Getting Students in class on Day One Step 1: Students need their login information: User name: student ID number ● Password: First and last Name Initials + 6 digit birthdate ● (For example: jb090405) Step 2: Students need Student Schedule (Access Through Infinite Campus) Steps 3: Students go into CANVAS Learning Platform Step 4: Students click on the course for appropriate period; ZOOM links for each course will be listed on Home Page. Step 5: Students will sign in to ZOOM and Create an SEQ Zoom Link All links and information is on https://www.mabears.org/

  17. Freshman Transition The Freshman Transition program is an experiential mentorship program offered to all freshman students. Monthly, online community building ● Mentorship through student-led lessons and activities ● Speakers (staff and guests) on topics related to high school transition, ● organization, mindfulness, strength and diversity, and other topics pertinent to M-A.

Follow instructions on www.mabears.org ● Help! I can’t login on Day 1! Call M-A for help 650-322-5311 ● Will attendance be taken? Yes! Make sure to log on to all your classes on Zoom. ● I’m hungry! Breakfast & Lunch will be served Mondays & Thursdays 10am-1pm , ● drive-through only at the front of the school (ongoing during distance learning)

  21. Parents and Caregivers- You can help! Establish consistent routines and concrete expectations • Work with your your student to define the physical space for study • Take an active role in helping your children process their learning by asking questions. Become a partner learner. • Encourage your student to reach out to teachers and attend office hours • Begin each day with a check-in; end each day with a check-out • Encourage physical activity and exercise • Remain mindful of your child’s stress or worry • Monitor how much time your child is spending online • Keep your children social, but set rules around their social media. • Establish times for quiet and reflection
