  6. Monitoring – Entering data Put in day type • Day types are as below: – Standard – Full Shift – On call – Zero/rest day – Leave People Centred Positive Compassion Excellence

  7. Monitoring – Entering data Start and End Time • Start and End times – Enter the start of work time – Enter the end of work time – If 24 hour on call then enter for example start 9:00 and end 9:00 People Centred Positive Compassion Excellence

  8. Monitoring – Entering data Rest • Rest periods – Only enter if you are working off site – on call from home. – Not Natural Break. – Generally full shift/standard day will not include rest People Centred Positive Compassion Excellence

Monitoring – Entering data Notes • You do not have to enter any notes but it is sensible to do so. – This helps to explain why you are unable to get natural breaks or why you are working over hours – As it can be difficult to remember if you are questioned weeks and may be months later • Click Save Notes People Centred Positive Compassion Excellence

Data Entry  Ensure the Rota Template reflects your hours of work  If you work additional hours in agreement with your Rota Coordinator and are paid separately by the Division, DO NO ENTER these hours onto your diary card  If you work outside your Rota Template – PROVIDE A NARRATIVE. The monitoring team will then investigate the circumstances  If you work extra hours ‘out of interest’ and without the knowledge of the Division this will be challenged  If there are any issues with your rota template – please raise it to your Division or Medical Workforce  The monitoring team are here to support you People Centred Positive Compassion Excellence

Guardian of Safe Working Hours  New Role to support the 2016 JDC T and Cs  Ensure the hours you work are safe for you and your patients.  Supports a system that addresses issues of overworking / poor training and poor supervision in a local, responsive and timely manner. Guardian of Safe Working Hours  Act as the champion of safe working hours  Receive your exception reports and record and monitor compliance against your terms and conditions.  Escalate issues to the relevant executive director, or equivalent for decision and action.  Intervene to reduce any identified risks to you or your patients’ safety.  Undertake a work schedule review where there are regular or persistent breaches in safe working hours  Distribute monies received as a consequence of financial penalties, to improve your training and service experience People Centred Positive Compassion Excellence
