TA6 How service users now receive meals... • Currently, other COB meal options that service users have available: – Domestic Assistance (DA) – staff preparing meals in service users homes as service user is unable to prepare for themselves - $8 per hour – Other Food Services (OFS) – staff assist service users with: menu planning, shopping and meal preparation with service users involvement - $8 per hour – Social Support (SS) – staff accompany service users to access Harman Park Community Centre for a hot meal or another food venue of their choice - $8 per hour
TA7 How service users now receive meals... – Food Cents - staff and volunteers assist service users to plan nutritional menus within a budget for one or two people, cook the meal in a small group and eat together to improve socialisation - $5 per session – Meals at Harman Park – service users can independently or with support access the Centre for a hot 3 course meal, 5 days per week - $8 per meal – Meals on Wheels (MOW) – service users receive frozen 3 course meals delivered to them directly once per week by volunteers - $9 per meal
TA8 Cost of meals to service users... • Current model: - a three course meal - $9 • New model options: - Option A – two course meal - $5.98 - Option B – three course meal - $7.11
TA9 Current service users receiving meals... Approximate numbers of service users receiving a meal per week • (August 2014): – Domestic Assistance – 25 – Other Food Services – 10 – Social Support – 52 – Food Cents – 7 – Meals at Harman Park – 30 – Meals on Wheels - 22 – *Centre Based activities – 165 (not included in reportable HACC statistics, as focus not on meal but activities, which includes 3 course meal) Total approximate number of HACC eligible COB residents receiving • a meal throughout the week of 18-22 August 2014 = 311
TA10 Update on MOW Volunteers... Manager Community Development and HACC staff met with • MOW Volunteers to discuss changes to MOW deliveries, service user needs and MOW and additional volunteering options on: - Thursday 24th July 2014 - Tuesday 19th August 2014 Those who were not able to attend either meeting received • letters with an update on changes and MOW and additional volunteer opportunities at the City
TA11 Update on MOW Volunteers... • Feedback was predominantly positive with the majority of volunteers wishing to continue with MOW deliveries, as well as considering other volunteer opportunities at the City • All volunteers received a summary of all possible volunteer places/ activities/ opportunities within the City and are currently reviewing and responding with their preferred options
