MCBC Powerpoint Presentation Judges Seminar – June 2013 Critique evaluation results I do not know the total number of attendees. I had 60 booklets to pass out and only came out with 8. I guess, I rough figure would be 50. Presentation Critiques were supplied with the written handouts and 16 were returned to me. Overall impression was based on a scale from 1 – 5 with 1 being poor and 5 being excellent. Overall presentation average = 4.1 Positive – The scores Negative – Too much reading, needed to be more relaxed and spontaneous, unfamiliarity with some judging procedures. Visual Slide show average = 4.1 Positive – The scores, thought the photos were more accurate now Negative – some slides were hard to see or read, some photos were poor examples, enlarge the feature being discussed Written Handouts = 4.1 Was material informative Y/N? Did you learn anything Y/N? Positve – The scores, all yes/no responses were yes/yes with one somewhat Negative – There was one score of 1 but then then answered yes to informative and did they learn. Maybe they had the scale backwards?
Presenters – Both Kathy and I scored an average of 4.1 Judge’s Comments: Very proud of the MC breed Discussion of spotted and ticked should have been kept internal Good discussion on WCC – Patterns. Breed Council should address A lot of conversations in the room – hard to hear the speakers Presentation confusing showed a need for standard changes Presenter should not read text BC Secretary needs to take some of the comments of the judges back to the BC Great Job Be prepared to answer judge’s question promptly Cats present were mostly excellent species Excellent presentation and discussion on spotted and ticked but still caused confusion Great presentation It is clear the presentation went well but could be improved. I am sure my nerves were evident. I was a bit intimidated by the room at first and my spontaneity could be improved. I was too structured. I can fix that. The materials, overall, were well received. The comments clearly suggest we need to address the spotted tabby. Most judges agreed the standard does address the ticked and it is a DQ but the spotted is not
addressed at all and MUST be. Further discussion and research is need for sure, maybe on both but we need to direct judges now regarding the spotted tabby. Respectfully submitted to the MCBC Membership Alexis Mitchell MCBC Secretary
