Participation Participation  Increase the number and diversity of children and young people participating in Active Schools activities.  Provide more and higher quality opportunities to participate in sport in schools (before school, during lunchtime and after school).  Engage with children and young people who may experience barriers to participation to support their inclusion in activity.  Support and develop effective pathways between schools and clubs to improve the transition of children and young people from schools to clubs.

People  Grow and develop a network of people to deliver opportunities within schools ensuring they have the confidence, skills and knowledge to deliver quality sporting opportunities.  Recruit, retain and develop volunteers to deliver opportunities in schools.  Share and promote opportunities to participate, lead and volunteer in sport.  Provide support and leadership opportunities in a range of roles including: deliverers/coaches, event competition organisers, technical officials, decision makers and ambassadors.

  10. Volunteers/Coaches  Fantastic support from teachers and parents over the years.  Always welcome more parents to assist with clubs.  PVG checked and training provided.  Only 1 hour a week.

  11. Training and Mentoring  Sports Coaching Award- Woodfarm High school.  Young leaders P7- Trained and supported  Volunteer nights- 4 x a year  Leadership Academy- 5 th and 6 th Year.  Placements across after school clubs for pupils.  PVG arranged.  Ongoing training offered to all coaches and volunteers.  Coaching and Volunteer awards night- Annual event.

  12. Holiday Camps  Multi sport camps offered during holiday programme.  Eastwood High and Barrhead High- 2 camps during Spring Holidays and summer holidays.  Volunteers assist with camps.  Lots of opportunities to be active!

School- Club Links  Important for progression and sustainability.  Pathway for children to follow from PE to sports club.  Active schools assist in promoting club activities.  Clubs assist in festivals, health weeks and events providing free coaching.  Move to create 4 Community Sports Hubs (Giffnock, Barrhead, Whitecraigs, Eastwood).

School Sport Award  The sport scotland School Sport Award is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to continuously improve the quality and quantity of physical education (PE) and school sport opportunities. The sport scotland School Sport Award:  Encourages schools to self reflect and continuously improve  Helps schools to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in PE & school sport  Recognises and celebrates successful PE & school sport models

  15. The Power of Sport  Improve Health.  Reduce Obesity.  Improve mental health, reduce depression.  Improve academic performance.  Improve self-esteem, confidence and self-belief.  Social- make new friends, fun and enjoyment.  Skills- learn skills for life, develop range of skills.  LIFELONG LESSONS and PARTICIPATION.
