Background • As part of the Queensland Government Renewal Program, agencies investigated opportunities to improve transport service delivery for people with disability, aiming to: – integrate value for money service delivery by government – increase level of consumer choice and control – increase market capability to deliver better services. • Investigation led to the identification of challenges and opportunities to better coordinate transport for people with disability • Proposed strategies and actions to capitalise on the opportunities using mobility management tools and techniques (for example, technological applications). 5 | 5 | Maranoa Mobility Management Demonstration Project | 2 July 2014
Defining the cohort 2031 • 1 in 5 Queenslanders have a disability (an estimated 830,000 people) • ¼ of these people have severe mobility restrictions • In 2019, approximately 97,000 Queenslanders will be eligible for NDIS support • Increasing number of frail aged • Increasing incidence of medical conditions impacting mobility. 6 | 6 | Maranoa Mobility Management Demonstration Project | 2 July 2014
