  6. Gathering Evidence • Interview – Tracker 101 – Project status (based on cards) – Self-assessment: – Document comments re: process – Request evidence • Post-Interview – Request sports complete missing information; links to evidence – Suggest simple next steps – Ensure data integrity for reporting (S4L & Sport Validation) 6

  7. LTAD Progress Tracker Outputs we aim to… • Create a centralized repository final LTAD products and initiatives • Document key information regarding the development, implementation process and use within the sport system • Make baseline information available in a consistent, across the sport system to facilitate program evaluation and research • Increase system capacity and efficiency in collecting, analyzing and sharing data • Report on the progress of the sport system in advancing quality sport 7

  8. LTAD Progress Tracker Impacts we aim to inform… • NSO and PTSO LTAD planning initiatives • MSOs with regards to the service needs of NSO • External stakeholders, including researchers about the work of system partners • Sport Canada and other funders where investment and resources may be required to advance quality sport 8

  9. LTAD Progress Tracker Impacts we aim to increase… • Retention of corporate knowledge amongst NSOs, MSOs & Funders • Collective knowledge of effective program design and implementations strategies • Coordination of services amongst system partners leading to increased system alignment and efficiencies 9

  10. LTAD Tracker Overview • Designed based on Ideal NSO & Milestone resources • Centralized repository of information – track activity and archive outputs • Tracker pre-populated based on S4L records & NSO website 10

  11. Project Status October 2 nd , 2017 • Phase 1 Completed – 58 Sports – Tracker’s created – Interview completed – Validation & missing evidence requested 11

  12. 12

  13. The Interview Comments from interviewer debriefs and general feedback • Constructive/formative for many, other did not see value – “what’s my ROI”; • “How will the information be used?”; Confidentiality? • NSO seeking guidance “what should we be doing” or validation “is what we are doing ok”? • Many new staff – not aware of history to complete retrospective information • New staff had few answers but saw value “Could have used this when I started” • Best way to reflect disciplines? • Used to report on project status to board 13

  14. Lessons Learned • Lack of internal tracking capacity of NSOs, best uptake is when S4L presents data and organisation confirms • Not valued equally by all; varied understanding of benefits • Challenge of retaining corporate knowledge bigger than we thought  added value of tracker • Some sports emerging with LTAD as “new normal” • Concerns over sharing/access to data greater than expected • If LTAD Lead is challenged to locate information, it helps to explain the PTSO/LSO disconnect • Need more information re: NSO knowledge mobilization strategies 14

  15. Sport Canada & Progress Tracker 1. Importance of centralized information to: o reduce the burden of duplicate reporting o Increase the opportunity to share information and best practices 2. Respecting that the NSO owns and manages their information 3. The work enables an analysis of sports and the sport system to identify best practices and areas of improvement 4. Creating the opportunity to increase dialogue and communities of practices to develop strategies to improve the Canadian sport system 15
