PROJECT OVERVIEW WHY I Y IS THE P PROJE JECT N NEEDED? `  To Address Traffic Congestion  One of the busiest interchanges in Bexar County with significant traffic delays.  Traffic along Blanco Road is projected to drastically increase by the year 2050.  Intersection Operational Improvements  Existing conditions at the interchange will not meet projected traffic demand.  Increase Safety  Studies of Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) projects from other States (i.e. CO and MO) indicate reduced crash rates.
