Lake Park Elementary School SAC Meeting Minutes: ​ September 11, 2019 Opening: The regular meeting of the Lake Park Elementary SAC Committee was called to order on September 11, 2019 by Kelly Williams at 5:05 pm. Roll Call and Determination of Quorum: A. Approval of Minutes Since this is the first SAC meeting of the 2019-2020 school year, there were no minutes from a previous SAC meeting to share with members. A motion was made to move on to Adoption of the Agenda. ​ *Motioned by Josh Schmidt and seconded by Monique Lambrou B. Adoption of Agenda Agenda was distributed at sign in and was unanimously approved as distributed. *Motioned by Jennifer O’Gorman and seconded by Veronica Young C. Old Business Since this is the first SAC meeting of the 2019-2020 school year, there were no minutes from a previous SAC meeting to share with members. D. New Business 1. Kelly Williams, the new SAC Chairperson welcomed attendees and introduced Mrs. Young, the Assistant Principal as well as all other staff members in attendance for today’s SAC meeting. 2. Mrs. K. Williams introduced the School Advisory Council Team for the 2019 - 2020 school year. 3. Mrs. K. Williams reviewed upcoming meeting dates and times for SY20. 4. Mrs. K. Williams reviewed procedures for voting in a public run board meeting. 5. Mrs. K. Williams reviewed the SAC Bylaws; SAC attendees voted for the approval of the SAC bylaws. The motion was made by Jennifer O’Gorman and the motion was seconded by Marisella Readon. The SAC Bylaws were approved by a unanimous vote. 6. Mrs. K. Williams reviewed the SY20 School Improvement Plan and provided an overview of the focus areas for SY20. The motion to vote was made by Marisella Readon and the motion to vote was seconded by Barbara Williams. The SY20 School Improvement Plan was approved with a unanimous vote.   2. Lake Park Elementary School SAC Meeting Minutes: ​ September 11, 2019 7. Process for completing SAC Membership forms was discussed and parents/community members who are interested in becoming official SAC members were encouraged to complete the form if they are able to regularly attend SAC meetings. 8. A funding request of $145.00 was submitted by Mrs. Connors to attend a professional development learning opportunity so she can better service social/emotional needs of our students. The motion to vote on purchasing the instructional materials was made by Marisella Readon and the motion to vote was seconded by Betsy Landers. The budget request was approved by a unanimous vote. 9. A funding request of $177.39 was submitted by Mrs. O’Gorman to purchase instructional materials/textbooks for teachers to complete the FLDOE Reading Endorsement courses. The motion to vote on purchasing the instructional materials was made by Marisella Readon and the motion to vote was seconded by Barbara Williams. The budget request was approved by a unanimous vote. 10. Mrs. Young welcomed parents, teachers, and community partners. See section E for additional topics discussed by Mrs. Young. 11. Teachers from each grade level team reviewed grade level reports, updates, and announcements for the following grade levels. (Detailed reports are available on the SAC PowerPoint for each grade.) - Pre-K: ​ Mrs. Young provided updates and information for students in Pre-K. - Kindergarten: ​ Mrs. Bond provided updates and information for students in Kindergarten. First Grade: ​ Mrs. O’Gorman provided updates and information for students in - first grade. - Second Grade: ​ Mrs. Mesadieu provided updates and information for students in second grade. Third Grade: ​ Mrs. O’Gorman provided updates and information for students in - third grade. - Fourth Grade: ​ Ms. Dean provided updates and information for students in fourth grade. Fifth Grade: ​ Ms. Bradley provided updates and information for students in - grade five. - Fine Arts: ​ Mrs. Connors provided updates and information for students in K-5 for all FIne Arts classes. E. Lake Park Elementary School SAC Meeting Minutes: ​ September 11, 2019 ○ SY2017 = +53 ○ SY2018 = +32 ○ SY2019 = +24 ○ = +109 POINTS IN ACCOUNTABILITY TO ACHIEVE ‘A’ STATUS!!! ○ SY18 = -18.8% LESS Level 1 Students ○ SY19 = -11.1% LESS Level 1 Students ○ Decreased # of students performing ​ two ​ grade levels below -29% ● SY19 FSA Results for ELA (Raw Data) ○ 3rd Grade +8; 4th Grade +23; 5th Grade +3 ● SY19 FSA Results for MATH (Raw Data) ○ 3rd Grade +24; 4th Grade -5; 5th Grade -14 ● SY19 FSA Results for SCIENCE (Raw Data) ○ 5th Grade -12 ● SY19 PYG = Proportion of a Year’s Growth 1.32 for 3-5 ELA F. Closing Remarks/Public Commentary Members were given an opportunity to address any other concerns. No remarks or public commentary was shared at this time. G. Agenda for Next Meeting 1. Members were encouraged to provide input and suggestions for future meetings.
