Know Your Rights in Case of ICE’s Raids – Training for Service Providers Venue: Culmore United Methodis Church (7628 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22043) Friday, January 15, 2016 from 10:00pm to 12:10pm GOALS: Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) has begun immigration raids to detain immigrant individuals and families from Central America who have been denied refugee status. Virginia is a state with large immigration populations including those from Central America and as such It is imperative that our immigrant communities know and understand how to exercise their rights during interactions with immigration and law enforcement officials. To inform on the political context inf luencing DHS’s targeted enforcement policy towards Central American refugees as well as provide an overview of said policy. To educate those who work with the immigrant community so they are able to provide the best advice possible to people affected by these issues. Having trained organizations and advocates dispersed in the area provides the immigrant community with various points of contact for information on their rights and avenues for help.
