DISTRICT GOALS Goal 1: Continue to improve student academic achievement levels for all learners by supporting and enhancing literacy elements of instruction Goal 2: Continue to improve student academic achievement levels in Mathematics for all learners Goal 3: Review and revise the district’s implementation of a framework for instruction and intervention for all students based on the NJTSS Model Goal 4: Conduct an analysis for the installation of air conditioning in the district and present a proposal to the BOE.
GOAL 1: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ELA Goal: Use PLCs to infuse literacy focus across content areas Goal: Support DBQ instruction in social studies classes HS History
GOAL 1: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ELA Goal: Use PLCs to infuse literacy focus across content areas CS Science
GOAL 1: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ELA Use PLCs to infuse literacy focus across content areas • Kindergarten: Rapid identification and naming of upper and lower case letters with 85% accuracy as measured by product assessment in 3 week intervals (6-7 letters per interval). • 2 nd Grade: Differentiated Phonemic Awareness Interventions • 3 rd Grade: Demonstrate understanding of text by asking and answering questions, making relevant connections, and referring explicitly to text to support responses. • 4 th /5 th Grade ELA: Independently analyze text through compare/contrast skills • 6-8 ELA & SS: Identification of central idea, citation of relevant text, and analysis of evidence to draw conclusions (NONFICTION TEXT)
GOAL 1: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ELA • Supporting Writing Workshop in grades 2-8 o Learning Walkthroughs o Tips/Tricks Sheets o Coaching letters/conferences o Lesson plan feedback • Newsela Implementation o PD sessions o Newsela Certified Educator Courses o Lesson plan feedback • Data Focused Classrooms o Reviewed LinkIt! Navigator Form A results with 3-8 Teachers, and will re-evaluate after Form B (Late February)
GOAL 1: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT ELA • Reading Intervention/TSS o Student Support Goal o LLI inventory/evaluation o Cutpoints & Progress Monitoring • Freshman/Sophomore Seminar o Skill-based curriculum o Developing Junior Seminar for 2018- 2019
GOAL 2: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT MATH • Currently using PLCs to analyze data, strengthen instructional practices, and increase collaboration • Used Evidence Statement Analysis from PARCC to identify common themes and content priorities in each grade level • Will be offering a 3 rd Year Title I Math Course as preparation for Algebra II and/or an alternative to Algebra II • Reviewed LinkIt! Navigator Form A results with 3-8 Teachers, and will re-evaluate after Form B (Late February) • Implemented ALEKS individualized adaptive program for KHS Title I math courses
GOAL 2: ALEKS USAGE IN HS TITLE I COURSES • Using ALEKS for individualized skill remediation in Algebra I Enrichment and Geometry Enrichment Courses to help fill in gaps in student understanding prior to moving on to Algebra I/Geometry • Algebra Enrichment students increased their average knowledge of skills in the course by 46%
GOAL 2: LINKIT! • LinkIt! was used in 2016-2017 in grades 4-11 to provide on-line benchmark assessments in ELA and Math • LinkIt! Is being used for benchmark administration in grades 3-11 this year • LinkIt! Navigator report data from Benchmark A has been provided to our district and is being shared with teachers • Using LinkIt! Benchmark data to drive instruction is one of the strategies being used to meet our ELA and Math Student Achievement Goals
GOAL 2: USING LINKIT! TO DRIVE STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT • The Navigator Reports provide data on at-risk student groups broken down by teacher and class • LinkIt! Teacher level dashboards allow educators to identify standards that students are struggling with, review the questions that assess those standards, and prioritize areas of weakness
Item Level Analysis provides insight into common misconceptions and mistakes
GOAL 3: ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS OF NJTSS • High quality learning environments, curriculum, and instructional practices, • Universal Screening • Data-based decision making • Collaborative problem-solving teams • Progress monitoring • Staff professional development • Positive school culture and climate • District and school leadership • Family and community engagement
NEW JERSEY TIERED SYSTEM OF SUPPORTS Implementing academic and behavioral supports and interventions in a tiered system for all students. • Action Steps: o Universal Screening — DRA, STAR, & Link It benchmarks o Cut Offs for Tiers o Review of current & needed curriculum & resources o Design of interventions to be provided at: o Tier I o Tier II o Tier III o Professional Development
GOAL 3: A FRAMEWORK FOR INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION • School Climate Transformation Team o Consists of both teams from both the Central School and the High School o Attended two SCTP Workshops to dissect the 2016-2017 School Climate Survey Data. o Data measures staff, student, and parent perceptions on the following domains. Physical Environment o Student Relationships o Teaching and Learning o Morale in the School Community o Parental Support o Safety o Emotional Environment o Inclusion and Diversity o
GOAL 3: A FRAMEWORK FOR INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION Emerging Strength: School Safety
GOAL 3: A FRAMEWORK FOR INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION • KPSD School Climate Improvement Plan (SCIP) • Established two goals that stretch across three domains • Student Relationships (Domain) / Emotional Environment (Domain) (Students/Staff) • Physical Environment (Domain) (Staff, Parents, Students)
GOAL 3: A FRAMEWORK FOR INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION • Student Relationships / Emotional Environment • Team will address the need to increase student social and emotional competencies to decrease instances of discipline during instructional time and increase student satisfaction with their peer to peer relationships

HIBSTERVENTION allows teachers to create plans of action, targeting academic, social/emotional, or behavioral issues. These issues are then tracked and rated by the teacher to collect adequate data to determine if I&RS is needed
TIER I INTERVENTIONS: SETTING PLC SMART GOALS Each PLC has set corresponding student and educator SMART goals. PLCs are focused on fostering LEARNING for both students and educators alike. Goals are chosen by teachers based on extensive data analysis.
GOAL 4: AIR CONDITIONING • BOE prioritization (air, lights, track, unit vents, boilers) • Analysis Conducted of entire district • Spiezle will present recommendations on a 1-3 priority basis: o Site Features & Amenities (ex track, lights, Atlantic Street field o Building Envelope (exterior wall waterproofing, and storefronts) o Building Interiors ( doors, floors, bleachers, etc.) o Program Needs ( KHS secure vestibule) o Building Systems (electrical & plumbing — lighting, electric panels, pipes, etc.) o HVAC-(existing air conditioned areas and proposals)
