Resource Adoption Process at a Glance June: Invite teachers to participate in the resource adoption process September – October: Initial committee meetings, evaluation rubric finalization, first review of all resources using evaluation rubrics November: Discuss evaluation data; narrow selections for vendor Q & A January: Resources available for public input February: Vendor Q & As; final committee meeting April: Recommendations presented to all staff via Google presentation May: Recommendations presented to the Academic Committee and 3 School Board

Step III- Resource Review & Evaluation ○ November: committee members were presented with evaluation data, top vendors were selected, and grade level groups were asked to finalize questions for vendor Question & Answer sessions ○ January: Vendor invitations sent, RFP prepared, public input ● Public Input window: Jan. 6th-24th ● Elementary: 1 teacher, 1 admin ● Intermediate: 3 grade 5 teachers, 6 grade 6 teachers ● Metz: 5 teachers ● OHS: 1 teacher ● Public: 0 participants ● Feedback Needs: assessments included, online access to materials, wide range of visually stimulating text, cultural relevance, teachers 10 support, flexibility, option for print materials as needed, opportunities for differentiation

Step VI- Presentation of Recommendation to Staff Due to COVID-19, committee members were not able to present our recommendations to the staff. Recommendations were shared via Google slides which included: ➢ The names of committee members ➢ A high level overview of the process ➢ Committee recommendations ➢ Highlights of recommendation ➢ A Google form confirming who has viewed the presentation and space for comments/questions 15

Next Steps ● Provide teachers with digital access for the summer ● Provide teachers with access to pre-recorded webinars to help teachers navigate these new platforms ● Continue work to connect the resources with curriculum maps and the division curriculum framework ● Work with Scholastic and StudySync to plan effective PD for the fall 19
Step VII- Submit Recommendation • May 13, 2020: – The committee submitted its’ recommendations to the Academic Committee of the MCPS School Board. • May 19, 2020 – Recommendations presented to the MCPS School Board for approval. 20
