Joint Action on implementation of best practices high level of overweight and obesity high morbidity and mortality NCDs Steering Group on Promotion and Prevention • Nutrition and physical activity - priority area • 12 best practices Third Health Programme (2014-2020 ): € 6 million • (60% - 80%; € 10M or 7,5M)
JA on implementation of best practices Scope: to implement the transfer of best practices agreed for inter- country transfer by the Steering Group on Promotion and Prevention (SGPP). • Activities : • support for a monitoring system for reformulation initiatives (FR - based on the WP 5 model of the Joint Action on Nutrition and Physical Activity) • public procurement of food for health (SI - based on the work of the MT Presidency and JRC) • framing of marketing aimed at children of foods and beverages high in fats, sugars or salt (IE - based on the revised AVMSD and the JRC marketing toolkit, WHO and UNICEF work)
• WP - Monitoring of reformulation • By now • Salt, sat fat, sugars: • HLG voluntary documents (EU Framework on selected nutrients, Added Sugar Annex, etc) • Political support: Council conclusions (GR, NL, MT, BG) • National reformulation plans • JANPA – WP5 collecting methodology • Best practices in the Member States (e.g. France)
• WP - Monitoring of reformulation • Ongoing work on salt, sat fat, sugars: • Pilot Reformulation Study monitoring, snapshot I for 16 MSs AT,BE,BG,DK,EE,FI,FR,GR,HU,IT,LT,MT,PT,RO,SI,UK support to public health authorities to implement reformulation initiatives via twinning meetings and workshops mapping the national reformulation initiatives in the EU support to set up institutional networks to implement reformulation estimating the public health impact of food reformulation
