ISTEP Overview The purpose of the Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress Plus (ISTEP+) program is to measure student achievement in the subject areas of English/Language Arts and Math. Science is assessed in grades 4 and 6. In particular, ISTEP+ reports student achievement based on current Indiana State Standards. *Sample questions will be shown at the end of the presentation.*

Test Question Examples Drop Down List Questions- With this type of question, • students will see their responses in context.

Test Question Examples Drag and Drop Questions- This type of question is used when evidence of understanding calls for the selection and arrangement of content.

IREAD-3 Overview All questions are multiple choice and will be taken in paper/pencil format. Word Analysis: Beginning, Middle, and Ending Sounds Word Analysis: Synonyms, Antonyms, and Homographs Word Analysis: Prefixes and Suffixes Word Analysis: Context Clues Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension

How can you help? Good breakfast and good night’s sleep Physical activity leading up to and during the test Encourage child to ask for further explanation about directions Don’t worry about the speed of others around you, but pace yourself Superflex strategies before and during test
Parent Perspective Test is important, but is only a snapshot Don’t overschedule, keep to routine Consider child’s personality Sickness v. nerves Debrief daily, but don’t overdo it
