ISSUES OF JHARKHAND UNDER HP-3
ISSUES SURFACE WATER 1 Preparation of IWRM Plan for entire river basins of the state (including preparation of DEM / entire river basins of the state in GIS domain) ; 2. Assessment of capacity of existing reservoirs and revival of live storage capacity; 3. Development of rainfall run-off models for inflow forecasting to the existing and ongoing reservoir projects and also for the ungauged catchments; 4. Development of Rule-Curves for the demand driven integrated reservoir operation of existing projects; 5. Establishment automated hydro-meteorological and ground water instruments to start collection, collation, validation, compilation, analysis and dissemination of quality hydro-meteorological and ground water data on real time basis for integrated water resources management of the river basins of the state;
6. Development of spillway rating curves to assess surplus releases through the existing reservoirs; 7. Hydrologic & hydraulic modeling for integrated regulation of existing reservoirs in the river basins & also to identify safe carrying capacity of flood discharge by the rivers for safeguarding areas from river bank inundation; 8. Basinwise water balance study; 9. Flood forecasting model for Swarnarekha and Ganga river basins (covering Sone, North Koel, Gumani, and Ganga river touching portion of Sahebganj district in Jharkhand; 10. Drought modeling for the drought prone areas falling in Ganga Basin covering Garhwah and Palamau districts; 11. Modeling of crop-water, municipal, industrial and ecological water demand for the integrated operation of existing reservoirs; 12. Modeling for intra-basin water transfer; and 13. Planning for climatic resilient water resources projects;
GROUND WATER 1. Ground water modeling to develop run-off, recharge and draft relationship in hard rock terrain aquifers; 2. Establishment of real time ground water monitoring system; 3. Surface and ground water quality modeling; 4. Establishment of the state water resources information centre as well as water quality labs; 5. Capacity building of the personnel with the technology and technical tools to be applied in Hydrology Project Phase -III
