Intruder on Campus What we will do if a potentially dangerous person is in the school Current: Lock doors Cover hallway windows Lights out Hide out of sight
A Better Way to Stay Safe My goal is for everyone in our school to be safe I am always looking for new and better ways to help us be safe All of the adults have been trained on a new way to help us stay safe. It is called ALICE
What does ALICE stand for? A – Alert L – Lockdown I – Inform C – Counter E - Evacuate
A – Alert Provide initial information Information over PA system or from an adult Important to listen carefully to the adult in charge
L – Lockdown Lock the door Turn out the lights Barricade - Move things in front of the door Spread out around the room Be Quiet
What is a Barricade Teacher may ask you to help them block the door Makes it harder for the intruder to get in
L – Lockdown What if I am not in a room when there is an emergency? Get somewhere safe Outside Nearby classroom Other office/room
I – Inform Be a good listener during any emergency Follow the directions of all adults Tell an adult if you see or hear something that may be dangerous
C – Counter Teacher may tell you to help distract the intruder. Make loud noises Run away Throw things This is a strategy of last resort!
E – Evacuate Move to a safer place Keep moving Know your rally points
What is Next? Like all drills – we will practice Practice with your teacher today We will always announce an Intruder on Campus drill so that you know you are safe
