3 AEMS is committed to the safety of our campus. Through comprehensive Amelia Earhart Middle School safety planning , training and practice , we are better prepared to face campus-wide safety issues as they arise.
4 RUSD Models: ▪ Run, Hide, Fight ▪ ALICE ▫ A - Alert ▫ L - Lockdown/Lockout ▫ I -Inform ▫ C - Counter ▫ E -Evacuate
5 A- ALERT The first message of a threat can be: ▪ person to person ▪ announcement on PA ▪ visual/audio warning ▪ through device
6 L- Lockdown ▪ Hide out of line of sight ▪ Cover & conceal ▪ Barricade ▪ Silence ▪ Prepare for counter-attack and/or evacuation
7 L- Lockout ▪ No hiding ▪ Precautionary action ▪ Students remain in room with teachers ▪ Instruction continues
8 I- Inform When safe, inform law enforcement/administration of intruder details such as location, activity, appearance, etc.
9 C-Counter ▪ Last resort ▪ Distract, fight off, immobilize intruder ▪ Anything an individual or group can do to gain control is acceptable.
10 E- Evacuate ▪ Get away ▪ If law enforcement coordinated, leave according to their directions with empty raised hands.

14 ▪ Talk about this topic with your students ahead of the instruction. ▪ Assure them that the chances of this type of event happening are rare even though they seem to frequently be on the news. How can parents ▪ Encourage them to be very attentive & families help? during the lessons, ask questions, and to plan what they would do if this were to happen. ▪ Listen to them when they talk to you. ▪ Let us know if you have concerns regarding your child and this training so we can help ahead of time.
15 ▪ We will communicate with you as soon as it is safe to do so via autodialer and email. ▪ The district will communicate with you in the same manner. What can you expect ▪ If there is a police presence, we will if this were to occur? follow all directions of law enforcement to keep your child safe. ▪ Please be sure to bring photo identification with you to pick up your child- only people listed on Emergency Cards will be able to pick up students.
