Why use social media to promote your organisation? • Social media is one of the most cost effective communication networks. • 90% of all marketers say social media marketing has increased their business exposure. • 83% of the UK were using social media at the beginning of 2018. • What can you do on social media? Fundraising, Campaigns, Volunteering, Events, Building Communities, Brand Building. • Online fundraising raised £78million for ALS in just 30 days from the Ice Bucket challenge

Facebook Facebook is a great way to engage with customers/service users, it is also a great way for small charities to promote their cause. Tips to improve or to think about when setting up a Facebook page: • Cover photo • About section • Profile photo • The context you post/Newsfeed • Tabs for engagement
Twitter Twitter is another really effective social media platform for your business. Twitter is a better way to connect with business than Facebook, However Facebook is a more suitable platform for customers of all ages. • Tailoring tweets – 280 characters Avoid using slang such as ‘u’ instead of ‘you’ or ‘l8r’ instead of later • Using a URL in your tweet will automatically be shortened • Including photos in your tweets
Twitter Terminology ‘@’ - The @ sign is used to call out usernames in Tweets: "Hello @twitter!" People will use your @username to mention you in Tweets, send you a message or link to your profile - The ‘@’ is also your username and is how you're identified on Twitter, and is always preceded immediately by the @ symbol. Hashtag ‘#’ - A hashtag is any word or phrase immediately preceded by the # symbol. When you click or tap on a hashtag, you'll see other Tweets containing the same keyword or topic. follow(s) - A follow is the result of someone following your Twitter account. You can see how many follows (or followers) you have from your Twitter profile. Follow(ing) - Subscribing to a Twitter account is called “following.” To start following, click or tap the Follow icon next to the account name on their profile to see their Tweets as soon as they post something new. Anyone on Twitter can follow or unfollow anyone else at any time, with the exception of blocked accounts. like (v.) – Tapping the heart icon to like a Tweet and the author will see that you appreciate it. pinned Tweets - You can pin one of your Tweets to the top of your profile page to keep it above the flow of time-ordered Tweets.

The post most seen and engaged with was the release of the three day schedule, reaching 24.4k people and the post being clicked on 2.6k times and 756 reactions, comments and shares.
