Structure of the IB Diploma • 2 Year Programme • Six subjects + Core: Extended Essay, TOK and CAS • Must choose from one each Group 1 to 5 • Plus another from either Group 6 or Group 3 / 4 • Three subjects at Higher Level (240 hours) • Three subjects at Standard Level (150 hours)
IBDP Subjects Offered At Princes Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature English A, Chinese A Group 2: Language Acquisition Chinese B, English B, French B, Italian B (May), Spanish ab initio Group Three: Individuals and Societies Economics, Geography, History Group 4: Experimental Sciences Biology, Chemistry, Physics Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS) Design Technology Group 5: Mathematics Mathematics: applications and interpretation Mathematics: analysis and approaches Group 6: Arts or Free Choice Film, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts Or Another Group 3 or 4 subject
IB Core: EE / TOK / CAS • Theory of Knowledge (TOK) - 18 month course with 4 lessons per week. - Assessed with a Presentation and Essay. • Extended Essay (EE) - Independent research assignment of 4,000 words in one of the six subject areas. - Students work with an assigned supervisor. • Creativity / Action / Service (CAS) - Continuous engagement for 18 months - Activities are focused on the CAS Learning Objectives. - CAS Projects are the key (minimum 1).
