Hydrodec of North America Good for business Good for the planet The Leading Green Re-Refiner of used Transformer Oil 1
We are the world’s first ‘Green Transformer Oil’ Company – The first to receive Carbon Credits At Hydrodec, we believe that “waste is a resource in the wrong place” . Used insulating oil is a 100% recyclable material. It should all be safely collected and brought back to life; again and again. That we do so and gain carbon credits is a bonus! Our offering couldn’t be better timed given some key macro themes. The population is expected to expand from 7.4 billion today to more than 9 billion in 2040 (International Energy Outlook). “The future is electrifying” . Electricity is the rising force, making up 40% of the rise in final consumption to 2040 – the same share of growth that oil took for the last 25 years. Along with the increase of power requirement comes transformer oil consumption growth. Each year, millions of tons of transformer oil reach the end of their service. Why burn used transformer oil adding yet more unnecessary CO2 emissions to the environment when it can be re-refined by Hydrodec with our patented IP; proven process and independent carbon credit approval from the American Carbon Registry? 2 Hydrodec Group plc
Environmentally responsible & sustainable offer A win/win situation: Hydrodec has transformed used naphthenic transformer oil into a high-quality insulating oil that meets and exceeds international industry standards, and whose production generates carbon credits. A cradle-to-cradle operation: We preserve valuable natural resources by efficiently using waste as feedstock. We specialize in the collection, transportation and processing of used transformer oil. Our patented process recovers 99.9% of naphthenic distillate. We totally remove and deconstruct all polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) – the asbestos of the transformer oil business. PCB destruction: We contribute to the advancement of the Stockholm Convention which aims to protect human health and the environment from persistent organic pollutants, like PCBs. 3 Hydrodec Group plc
Sustainability is fundamental to Hydrodec Full waste hierarchy compliance in the USA offers a big opportunity: President Trump signed a bipartisan Bill into law in December 2018 requiring a full one year review of the potential for all used US oil to be re-refined. Re-use is essential. It keeps products in the consumption sphere for a longer period. It promotes the possibility to divert products discarded by their last user from polluting waste streams. It encourages ‘Certificates of Origination’ being issued by U.S. Utilities. We protect the environment. We reduce landfill. We avoid the risk of potential resulting land and water pollution. Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12: “Responsible consumption and production”: This is what Hydrodec is all about - reducing resource use, potential degradation and pollution along the whole lifecycle of otherwise incinerated used transformer oil. Aligned with the circular economy principles: We collect and transport used PCB- free and PCB-regulated naphthenic-based oil. We transform it into a new, environmentally safe, and high- quality specialty mineral oil to deliver a ‘closed loop’ strategy for U.S. utilities and Departments of Environment and Defense agencies. 4 Hydrodec Group plc
Hydrodec : The Green Oil Company. The first Transformer Oil Company in the world to generate CO 2 credits for every gallon of used transformer oil re- refined. CO 2 credits that can be traded with the utilities who supply us with their used transformer oil and / or buy our finished product, Superfine. This contributes to delivering their sustainability strategies; their commitment to the environment and their promise to shareholders to meet their CSR targets. Why burn your waste transformer oil adding to global warming when you can re-refine the oil which moves electricity through a myriad of transformers to American homes? The American Carbon Registry (“ACR”) has approved Hydrodec’s rigorous emissions reduction accounting methodology to generate carbon credits for every ton of carbon dioxide displaced by recycling transformer oil. The methodology provides an accounting framework to quantify emission reductions achieved by diverting used transformer oil, which under polluting conditions would be incinerated at the end of its useful life, to a re- refining facility that processes the transformer oil for re-use. Hydrodec has generated more than a quarter of a million CO 2 credits According to the Californian Air Resources Board, Climate Change Program, this is equivalent to more than: One year of electricity use by 32,000 average U.S. households 139,000 tons of waste being recycled instead of going to a landfill 54,000 passenger cars not driven for one year By By acting in in a sustainable le wa way, together her we we build a better wo world Source: ICROA 5 Hydrodec Group plc
