Outcomes of this Meeting • To provide an update on – construction and design development – planning to prepare for September 2017 • To provide opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback
Timelines • October 2013 – Government announced plans to build 18 new schools • February 2014 – 5 Day consultation and planning event • October 2014 – RFP (request for proposal) issued to the construction sector (three proponent teams selected)
Timelines • April 2015 – GSCS hosted update meeting at the Parish in Martensville – Began naming process • May 2015 – Evaluated submissions from the three proponent teams • June 2015 – Selected preferred proponent – Schools named
Timelines • August 2015 – Construction started – Final design work on-going • September 2015 – Sod turnings and sites blessed • December 2015 – Community consultation re: French Immersion
Timelines • February 2016 – Determination of French Immersion programming • April 2016 – Announce principals • November 2016 – Formal registration begins • September 2017 – Target date for school opening

Registration • Expression of interest for French Immersion begins tonight • Formal registration will begin in November 2016
Soft Start • Considering Kindergarten in both Warman and Martensville communities starting in September 2016 – 5 years old by January 31, 2017 (?) • Based on community interest – Need a core base of students to offer the program • Locations being explored • More information will be shared early in 2016
Transportation • Planning is underway • Work with Prairie Spirit School Division • Finalize plans in early 2017
Establishment of School Council • Group to work with school / division administration in processing decisions and planning • Convene by May 2016

Step One • Factors in determining the need for an additional French Immersion program in GSCS – Current demographics in the community – Future projected neighborhood/city demographics in all communities impacted – Analysis of enrolments in current locations and school facilities – Program sustainability – Long term school sustainability
Step One • The Board of Education will make the final decision for French Immersion programming • Target date for determining program and location by the Board of Education will be February 2016 • Formal request will be forwarded to the Ministry by February 15, 2016
Step Two • Factors to consider in determining a school location for a dual track French Immersion program: – School facilities – capacity for a dual track program – Long range sustainability of a program – Current enrolments in GSCS French Immersion programs – Community interest in enrolling children in French Immersion
