The Highway Drainage System
Highway Drainage Lesson Learnt • Targeted investigation from inventory data allows funding to be prioritised and drives the correct maintenance treatment. More frequent gully cleansing is rarely the most appropriate solution. • Adjacent landowners and the water authorities have key roles to play in ensuring the highway drainage system is not overloaded and operates effectively. • Inventory condition data allows us to plan ahead for the network maintenance needs.
