Grandfathering
Grandfathering.... Rising high schoolers (current 8th-11th graders) may remain at their high schools if they choose. Any child who has one year remaining at his/her current school, may remain at that school if they choose (1st, 4th, 7th grades). Grandfathering in lower graders (1st, 4th or 7th) would be for one year only. Younger siblings who have more than 1 year of school at a specific campus will not be grandfathered. New enrollees to system this fall will go to newly-zoned school. Families who choose grandfathering will not be eligible for transportation. There will be a deadline for choosing whether to grandfather at a school, so district may staff campuses accordingly.

Transportation- Differences Under the Projected Boundaries for 2016-17 474 students will be eligible for transportation service who are not currently eligible. 172 students will not be eligible for transportation service who currently are eligible. 2483 eligible students’ routes would be affected by the new boundaries. 1520 of those students will travel fewer miles to school with the new routes 480 of those students will travel more miles to school with the new routes. 483 of those students will not be affected by mileage change of any significance. More possible routes, but those routes will be shorter, so one driver can potentially cover multiple “runs” to save personnel costs.
Building Transitions
Building Transitions... Principals – determine number of classroom moves from-and-to their respective buildings. Principals – provide inventory of furniture/equipment needs based on the changes in student and teacher populations. Needs will be accessed/decisions made regarding moving furniture and equipment between schools and/or the purchase of new items if necessary.
Building Transitions... A Master Moving Plan will be developed with a start date on or about May 27th / completion date on or about July 22nd. A formal bid for moving services will occur with Board approval by May. New items will be ordered with delivery dates to coordinate with specific delivery dates based on Master Moving Plan. Teachers will be provided moving boxes and supplies. Moving schedule will be coordinated with Principals. Textbooks, library books and other instructional supplies will be moved between schools as appropriate. Renovations to lunchroom serving lines, bathrooms and other areas will be scheduled as part of the Master Moving Plan. Construction of a playground for Brock’s Gap (3 -5) will be developed, with construction starting as quickly as possible.
