  1. Green Hope High School 2019-20 Safety Presentation **All students hoping to secure an off-campus lunch pass and/or an on-campus parking space for the 2019-20 school year must review this presentation and submit documentation acknowledging that they have reviewed this presentation along with other policy documents and agree to abide by outlined rules and procedures, with the understanding that failure to do so may result in loss of off-campus lunch passes and/or on-campus parking privileges — either temporarily or permanently.

  2. On-Campus Vehicle Operation & Parking

  3. Potential Consequences Failure to adhere to any of the policies & guidelines mentioned in this presentation may be grounds for any of the following (or a combination of these things): • Ticketing • Towing at the owner’s expense • Suspension or revocation of lunch pass and/or parking pass • Other school consequences (e.g., lunch detention, after-school detention, ISS, etc.)

  4. General Rules • Parking spaces may NOT to be shared (or “transferred”) to other students (the only exception is for siblings — if siblings share a spot, each sibling must be registered as a driver). • Only registered vehicles may be parked in assigned spaces (no more than 2 vehicles registered to each space) • If there are changes, be sure to report to Front Office immediately to avoid tickets and fines • Hangtags must be displayed from rear-view mirror with the hangtag information facing out • Fines must be paid within 3 days (or face additional fines and other consequences)

  5. Safety Rules • Vehicles must be parked within the lines • Seatbelts should be worn by all vehicle occupants; driving speeds should not exceed 10 mph in parking lots • Code of Conduct applies to all vehicles, student drivers, passengers, and contents while on school grounds • Student vehicles are subject to search and seizure per WCPSS Board Policy

  6. Handicapped Parking • Must have valid handicapped permit from DMV and a GHHS parking pass to park in handicap spaces • Permit must be for a student using the vehicle • Register vehicle as usual and pay for spot as usual • Pay for parking spot as usual • Follow all parking rules • Normal expectations, rules & consequences apply • If you require a handicap space, please contact front office for next steps

  7. If you’re in an accident… 1. Move to a safe area (if possible). 2. Stop your vehicle & get out. 3. Check on others involved. 4. Call police (if it happens on campus, contact the SRO and the front office). 5. Gather information. 6. Document the scene. 7. File insurance (…talk to parents about this). (Courtesy of Esurance)

  8. If you are involved in any accident (major or minor), you need to report it. Failure to report to law enforcement or fleeing from an accident could result in criminal charges (“hit and run”). Failing to report incidents on campus may also result in temporary or permanent suspension of parking privileges along with other consequences. JUST TO REITERATE…

  9. Off-Campus Lunch Passes

  10. General Expectations • Maintain passing grades — administration will pull passes each month for students with failing course grades • Students going off-campus for lunch must be in a vehicle; no walking off campus AND no “hanging out” in the parking lot • Stop and show your pass (and wait for signal to proceed) • No sharing/borrowing passes (AND absolutely no fake passes) • NEW POLICY : Replacement passes will NOT be issued, except in the case of extremely extenuating circumstances (as determined by administration). Requests for replacement passes must be submitted to administration for approval.

  11. General Expectations, (cont.) • DO NOT take students who don’t have a lunch pass (or who have had their pass revoked) off-campus! • Students who go off-campus without a lunch pass will receive a consequence from administration and may jeopardize their ability to receive a lunch pass or parking pass in the future. • Students who drive students who don’t have an active lunch pass off campus will have their lunch pass revoked for a minimum of 20 days up to the remainder of the school year. They may also have their parking permit revoked, as well, for the same periods of time.
