Critical steps taken in preparation for modified in-person learning ⬩ Secured the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) ⬩ Developed mitigation strategies to include sick/care rooms independent of school clinics ⬩ Created protocols and expectations to facilitate healthy and safe schools and worksites ⬩ Trained all school nurses on contact tracing protocols ⬩ Developed modified in-person school level schedules ⬩ Surveyed families regarding modified return-to-school learning preference ⬩ Reopened the modified return-to-school learning preference survey for families to change their preference if they so desired ⬩ Surveyed staff twice regarding their ability to return to the worksite and provided a follow up survey for staff who indicated child care concerns

Critical steps taken in preparation for modified in-person learning The following protocols/expectations have been developed for modified in-person learning: ⬩ ⬩ Well checks Cleanliness during the school day ⬩ ⬩ Face coverings/face shields Early student pickup ⬩ Classroom setup with a minimum of ⬩ Late student arrivals ⬩ 3ft physical distancing and 6ft as the Supplies and backpacks ⬩ optimum division protocol Recess ⬩ ⬩ Breakfast and lunch with 6ft physical Student transitions distancing as the protocol ⬩ Visitors ⬩ ⬩ Arrival and dismissal School bus

Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place ◆ General Measures ■ All staff and students are required to wear masks. ■ All staff have received at least one face covering and one face shield from HCS. ■ All students will be receiving one face covering with their school logo from HCS.

  8. Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place ◆ Contact Tracing Efforts ■ All school nurses have been trained to conduct contact tracing. This will assist in communicating with the Hampton Health Department (HHD) should a COVID concern arise. ■ HCS Health Services has a database to track: ● Staff/students with symptoms ● Staff/students who may have had contact with someone with a positive COVID test ● Staff/students with a positive COVID test

Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place ◆ Two pronged Health Screening: ■ All staff and parents/guardians with their student are required to perform a self assessment BEFORE coming to work or school utilizing the HCS Staff Health Assessment Questionnaire or HCS Student Health Assessment Questionnaire. ■ Once arriving at school, students will report directly to their assigned classrooms and the HCS Student Health Assessment Questionnaire will also be reviewed by teacher/instructional staff at the beginning of each school day. Late arrivals will be assessed in the office.

Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place ◆ Illness at school/work ■ Students/staff reporting symptoms will be assessed by the school nurse. ■ Sick/CARE room will be available at each school building. ■ HCS nursing staff will provide quarantine recommendation based on CDC guidelines. ■ All students’ parents and staff will be advised to seek medical advice. ■ HCS COVID-19 guidelines include notifying HHD; then HCS administration, parents and/or staff as appropriate based on HHD recommendations.

Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place ◆ Visitors ■ Appointments will continue to be required. ■ HCS Visitor Health Assessment Questionnaire sign is posted at all main entrances and should be reviewed before entering schools/offices. ■ Masks are required for all visitors. ■ Contactless drop off for student items will continued to be encouraged.

Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place Disinfecting Supplies and Custodial Training: ◆ Upgraded Disinfectant ■ Hospital-grade disinfectants are being used throughout each school facility. ◆ New Disinfecting Equipment ■ Electrostatic disinfecting machines ■ Chemical atomizers ◆ Custodial Training ■ Each custodial service provider has conducted training of their employees on new cleaning protocols, PPE, chemicals, and equipment. ■ Extra accountability measures have been instituted to ensure proper cleaning and disinfecting occurs at regular intervals.

Protocols and measures in place Personal Protection Equipment (PPE): ◆ Face Coverings ■ Cloth masks, disposable masks, and face shields ◆ Desk Shields ■ Desk shields have been provided for every HCS student. ■ HCS offices have been provided plexiglass shields for points of service. ◆ Disinfecting Supplies ■ Non-latex disposable gloves have been provided for teachers and students. ■ Spray bottles of disinfectant have been provided for teachers. ■ Containers of disinfectant wipes have been provided for all classrooms. ◆ Hand Sanitizing Stations ■ Hand sanitizing stations (free standing and wall mounted) are strategically placed around each school building for easy access. ■ Gallon size pump containers of hand sanitizer have been provided to each classroom.

  14. Protocols and measures in place Building a Culture of Shared Responsibility: ⬥ Covid-19 has taught the nation that we are all in this together. With that thought in mind, HCS understands that no one person or group can be solely responsible for the health, safety, and cleanliness of the school building. This is a shared responsibility. ⬥ HCS is committed to building a school culture where all school members are committed to doing their part in providing the healthiest school environment possible. To that end, teachers and age-appropriate students will work together in the sanitizing of their own classroom desks and workstations.

  15. Protocols and measures in place Desk/Workstation Cleaning Protocols for Age-Appropriate Students: ⬥ HCS will create a culture of a safe and healthy school environment by: ■ Students who change classes will be provided with an organic-based disinfectant solution and gloves to wipe their desk/workstation, desk shield, and touchpoints. ■ Students who do not change classes and the classroom teachers are rotating, time will be provided prior to dismissal for students to use a organic-based disinfectant solution to wipe their desk/workstation and desk shield. ⬥ The cleaning solution chemical makeup will be posted on the HCS website so that parents/guardians can determine if an alternative solution is needed for the cleaning of their child’s station.

Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place Food and Nutrition Services ⬥ Students will be provided a grab-and-go breakfast bag which will contain a complete meal and utensils/napkin. ⬥ Grab-and-go breakfast bags will be distributed (based on the number of students in each school building and each school building’s schedule) using the cafeteria serving line, breakfast station, or delivery to the classroom.

  17. Virginia’s New Accreditation System Protocols and measures in place Food and Nutrition Services ⬥ Lunch will be provided in a to-go meal container that will be placed in a bag to assist students with carrying their meal to their classroom or designated area. ⬥ Lunch will be distributed using the cafeteria serving line, kiosks/lunch station, or delivery to the classroom. ⬥ No lunch deliveries will be accepted from outside providers and parents/visitors will not be allowed to eat lunch with students. ⬥ Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to all students through December 2020.
