PROGRAM OVERVIEW To promote city-wide neighborhood pride, resident engagement and community improvements To offer financial assistance for neighborhood groups to improve physical features and develop service-based projects Up to $10,000 in grant funds to community groups with top ranked service-based or neighborhood improvement project 4
APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY Applicants eligible to apply must be a group of residents living within Dallas city limits. The group is not required to be a 501(c)3. The following are examples of eligible applicants: Neighborhood or Homeowner Associations • Crime Watch groups • Civic organization • Community garden groups • Youth Groups • Non-Profits 501(c)3 • * A represent at ive must at t end a Grant Applicat ion Workshop t o be eligible. PROJECT LOCATION Projects location must be within Dallas city limits and is open to all areas in the City of Dallas Priority is given to projects in southern Dallas defined by Dallas city limits on • the west, south and east. The northern border is the Trinity River west of downtown and Interstate 30 east of downtown. 6
PROJECT ELIGIBILITY Projects should comply with the following: • Demonstrate resident engagement • Provide a public benefit which promotes a stronger, safer, vibrant community • Completed within one (1) year of executing the grant agreement • Meet all City insurance requirements, policies and codes • Maintain commitment without assistance or future funding from the City of Dallas 7
PROJECT TYPES 8
Projects that build a neighborhood’s appearance in a way that is highly visible to the public realm and serves a community benefit. • Examples: Street sign toppers, park improvements, planter boxes along streetscape, information/ community kiosks, creek/ community cleanups, art murals, neighborhood landscaping. *If Neighborhood Improvement Projects cannot be implemented by the applicant on a reimbursement basis, the City of Dallas may at its discretion implement the project through existing programs. *Neighborhood improvement projects require a two (2) year maintenance commitment. Community enrichment activities, events, or projects that increase neighborhood engagement and improve the quality of the community. • Examples: Neighborhood newsletters, community events, community gardens, and community awareness initiatives *Service-based projects are funded only on a reimbursement basis, and require a one (1) year maintenance commitment. PROJECT DESCRIPTION ( 35% OR 70 POINTS) • Clearly describe your neighborhood project in detail. Include project type, project scope and elements. • What is the maintenance/ replacement plan for the project? • Describe the benefits that the proposed project will create your neighborhood? 15
PROJECT TIMELINE (10% OR 20 POINTS) • Identify the key project activities and parties responsible for each task for the planning and implementation? • Is the project feasible within a one year time frame? 16

BUDGET (15% OR 30 POINTS) • How will the grant funds be used? (Completed Budget Form) • Is the project cost effective, achievable, and sufficiently funded without ongoing maintenance from the City of Dallas? 18
FUNDING • Grant funds may be used for: The purchase of supplies, materials, and equipment essential to the project; and • Marketing materials directly related to the project. • Purchase of professional services that cannot be performed by neighborhood • volunteers. • Grant funds may not be used for: Expenditures incurred or financial commitment made prior to signing grant • agreement Operating/ Administrative expenses • Food or catering services • Payment to individual other than those who provide their professional services to the • project Expenses that do not clearly contribute to a public purpose • Travel or transportation expenses • 19

ATTACHMENTS Required: • Neighborhood Participation Form • Fiscal Agent Commitment letter(s) for external monetary commitments (if applicable) Up to five (5) additional attachments are allowed. Examples: • Support letter (s) • Photos • Proof of insurance / permit forms • Site plan • Maintenance agreements 23
DISCLAIMER City of Dallas reserves right to reject any application submitted at any time during application cycle if it is discovered that a project would be a violation to any City ordinance, conflicts with current City services, goes against vision &/or mission of organization, or is deemed illegal or immoral. 24
