General Trip Details ● Direct Travel - Student Educational Travel ● Round trip luxury bus with King Ward Coach Co. 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Alexandria Carlyle, ● Alexandria, VA ● 3 full breakfasts ● Guided tour with American Tour Guides (9am - 9pm) 3 dinners (Uno’s, Harriet’s, Potomac River Cruise ● Dinner) ● 3 nights hotel security with Student Watchers (10pm - 3am)
Cost Payment Schedule: 1st - October 20, 2018: $ 729 per person (four students per $250 deposit due room = quad) 2nd - December 5, 2019: $ 805 per person (three students $250 deposit due person room) 3rd - March 15, 2019: $ 880 per person (two students per Final payment due room) Price based on minimum of 40 students Comprehensive trip insurance available at an additional cost of per bus $45 per student. All taxes and service fees included in the above costs.
Fundraising Students and families may consider possible personal opportunities for raising money for the trip, e.g. family chores, helping others (lawn work, shoveling), directing that special occasion gifts to be funds toward the trip. GMS will also host fundraising opportunities for students to raise funds toward the cost of the trip.

Day 2: Itinerary for Thursday, May 24 Breakfast at hotel Depart for Washington, DC Meet Guides & Tour Capitol Hill, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial and Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Lunch at National Place Arlington Cemetery Tour Embassy Row, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial Dinner at Harriet’s Return to Hotel Chaperones conduct room checks
Day 3: Itinerary for Friday, May 25 Breakfast at the hotel Depart for Washington, DC Holocaust Museum Visit Lunch at Reagan Building Food Court Visit Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and Museum of American History Potomac River Dinner Cruise Kennedy Center for photos or meet Congressman McGovern for tour of Capitol ( dependent on Congressman’s schedule ) Return to hotel Chaperones conduct room checks
Day 4: Itinerary for Saturday, May 26 Breakfast at the hotel Check out of hotel Smithsonian National Zoo Stop for lunch en route Anticipated return around 9:30pm - 10:00pm.* * We’ll post on Facebook and Twitter! Students will text more accurate arrival time at Grafton Middle School when we are a couple of hours away!
Roommates Students will provide names of suggested roommates on Roommate Request Form. Students will be guaranteed to be in a room with one of their suggested friends. Roommate decisions will be determined by the GMS trip coordinator teachers and administration and announced no earlier than April 2019.
Behavior Expectations - Before and During Trip The Washington, DC experience is a worthwhile trip that is both educational and fun. We cannot jeopardize the wellbeing of the students or of offering the trip in the future by taking students who have not shown the ability to demonstrate good behavior in school. The code of conduct and guide to mutual respect in the Grafton Middle School Student Handbook will be adhered to before and during this trip. If a student faces disciplinary action leading to suspension after February vacation week and prior to the departure date, he or she will not be able to attend the trip and all funds will be forfeited. Your deposit is acknowledgement of this behavior clause.
