  2. ROCK OF GIBRALTAR The Government is delighted that Her Majesty the Queen has approved Her descrip:on in the coin as “Queen of Gibraltar”. This is the first :me that the Palace has approved of the descrip:on of Her Majesty in such coinage as “Queen of” the issuing country in her Realm. One side of the £5 coin depicts the effigy of Her Majesty with the words “Elizabeth II Queen of Gibraltar” and the year. The other side depicts the Rock of Gibraltar with the word “Gibraltar” above it and the words “five pounds” below it. Denomina:on: Five Pounds Diameter: 32mm Weight: 11.7gms Type of Metal: Alpaca Fineness: 70Cu/28Zn/2Ni

  3. WINSTON CHURCHILL WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER A new £20 circula:ng coin was issued in 2013 by H.M. Government of Gibraltar. The 1 oz fine silver coin depicts Winston Churchill on the reverse and bears the phrase “We shall never surrender” which is an extract from the following paragraph of one of his defining speeches during the Second World War. ‘We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender’.   5. Coin commemora:ng the 75th anniversary of the evacua:on of Gibraltarians during World war II. The story of Gibraltar’s evacua:on is one of the few untold stories of the Second World War. This commemora:ve coin serves to remember the hardships endured by so many Gibraltarians in this :me of conflict and we hope it will encourage you to celebrate the ‘Evacua:on Genera:on’, while we s:ll can. Within a macer of weeks over 70% of the total popula:on of Gibraltar was evacuated to French Morocco. Gibraltar’s women, children, elderly and infirm, were torn apart from husbands, fathers, and sons in a :me of intense danger. They accepted that hardship with immense courage and as an act of duty and loyalty to Britain.

  6. To commemorate the Longest Reigning Monarch and leading up to the Queens 90 th birthday, Tower Mint in collaboraMon with our markeMng partner Samlerhuset group have created a seven coin collecMon celebraMng the reign Queen Elizabeth II, the proposed collecMon is named “long to reign over us.”

  7. Design 1 - God Save Our Gracious Queen! > Birth The idea here is to use a famous picture of the young princess and her mother. The ribbon concept will start at this coin. Coin 2 - Long live Our Noble Queen! > Succession Succeeding her father using a conjoined portrait of the princess and George VI. We will use an exis:ng effigy of George VI and a side portrait of the young princess. A sombre mood showing father and daughter together. Coin 3 - God Save The Queen! > CoronaMon The design will be based on the St Edwards Crown. A very detailed sculp:ng incorpora:ng as much detail as possible into the design. Coin 4 - Send Her Victorious, > Head of State The design depicts the Queens throne that rests within the Houses of Parliament, used by the Queen during the state opening of Parliament. Again, incorpora:ng as much detail as possible into the design including the coat of arms at the top of the throne.

Coin 5 – Happy and Glorious, > Jubilee The design will be constructed using the ER cypher and palm leaves used within the Royal Coat of Arms from Buckingham Palace as a symbolic link to this other great jubilee of the past. The ribbon will also form an intricate part of the design. Coin 6 – Long to Reign Over Us, > Longest Reigning Monarchs This design will consist of the 3 longest serving monarchs from history. George III, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. Each portrait will be facing the same direc:on in a stepped forma:on. The message here is Queen Elizabeth II has surpassed here rela:ves and become the longest reigning, telling the story through the monarchs. Coin 7 – God Save The Queen! > Birthday Oldest Reigning Monarch The final design will lead us into the Queen becoming 90 years old. A great finale to the collec:on and available for her 90th birthday in April. The design will use the flowers from the 4 na:ons of the UK. The ribbon will also form part of the design and finish at this coin.
