Introduction The state I have picked for my report is Georgia. I picked Georgia because I used to live in Georgia. Did you know Georgia's population is 9,687,653. That is an enormous number. The state capital is Atlanta. The major cities are Vancouver, Columbus, and Atlanta. Georgia has a lot of counties. Guess how many there are? There are 159. One of the surrounding states is Alabama. There are also North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. My state is awesome.
Physical description Now I'm going to to tell you about the physical description. The area of Georgia is 58,977 square miles. It's largest river is the Savannah river. The large lakes are Lake Sidney Lanier, and Clark Hill Lake. Did you know the highest point is Brass-town Bald Mountain. Georgia has 59 state parks and historical sights. One of them is the Calhoun mine. I would really want to go to Georgia.
State symbols and emblems Last I talk about the physical description now I'm going to talk about state symbols and emblems. Georgia was named after King George the second. The flag was adopted in 2003. It represents the thirteen original states. Do you like peaches? The Georgia nickname is the peach state. The state bird is the bobwhite quail. Do you know were honey comes from? If you don't, it comes from honeybees, which is Georgia's state insects. A right whale is the state mammal. The state tree is the live oak. Georgia's state flower is the Cherokee rose. Georgia is cool!
State history Did you know that Georgia became a state in 1788. In 1732 James Edward Oglethorpe and twenty other men secured an royal charter for the colony of King George the second. In 1772 Georgia's first constitution was adopted. In 1920 Georgian women started voting for the very first time. Did you know all of this? Think about it.
Jobs and resources Georgia has a lot of jobs. One of them is Home Depot headquarters. What I mean by that is, Home Depot sells lumber, kitchen appliances, tools and other stu ff like that. Do you like soda? My state's major company is Coca Cola. Delta Airlines is popular in Georgia. Delta Airlines is a transportation company. Georgia has many types of transportation. Georgia is a busy state.
Famous people Here are three famous people I have chosen for my report that came from Georgia. Did you know that Conrad Aiken lived in Georgia and he was a poet and author. John Ross was a Cherokee Chief. A Cherokee Chief is a Indian that is head of the nation. In Georgia Martin Luther King Jr. was an African American baptist minister from 1929 to 1968. My state is cool.
Famous Places I've always wondered what was in Georgia. The Georgia aquarium is one of Atlanta, Georgia's leading attractions. Stone Mountain is the largest rock dome in North America. Stone mountain is a really cool shape so it would be very nice to go see one day. Atlanta, Georgia would be cool to visit because the aquarium has the largest species of whale there. I'd like to go to Georgia.
