  3. SPANISH MAGNET - FLES For the 2016-2017 school year, the program contains 2 classrooms  each for grades 3 through 5. There is 1 classroom available in grades K, 1, and 2. No Spanish program is available for Transitional Kindergarten students. Entrance/lottery criteria remains the same, as does sibling policy.  Parents must initially enroll their child at their home school. Failure to do so can cause a student to not be enrolled anywhere. If Folsom Hills is not your home school, your initial registration will be denied. Program concerns and issues…  Introduction of new students grades (CSR)  Transition to middle school is being transitioned from a self-contained  program to a typical period system.

  11. ONLINE PARENT PORTAL  PowerSchool Parent Portal is used to communicate grades, attendance and is the only way to register your returning student. You will find the portal on our website.  SchoolWires (our school website) is used for class web pages, homework, assignments, calendaring.

  12. DISCIPLINE - PLAYGROUND  Yard Supervisors have been given behavior guidelines and procedural handbooks.  Yard Supervisors can give time-outs for safety issues.  Institution of time- out policy. “Red Bench” system (other sites use green bench, circle, pink slips, etc…)  Informational referrals: Slips used to inform a parent of poor yard or cafeteria behavior. Information only. Third referral equals a missed recess. Parents will receive a copy.  Classroom discipline is specific to teacher.

  13. DISCIPLINARY - OTHER  Toys and electronics are not allowed at school. If found, they will be taken to the principal’s office and held.  Parent or guardian may pick them up.  Students will not be allowed to do so.  Standard K-2 suspensions will be on-site, with exceptions being made.  Standard 3-5 suspensions will be off-site.

  14. “FORGOTTEN” ITEMS  Lunches, snacks, folders and schoolwork needing to be dropped off at school (student forgot, wasn’t ready, etc…) can be dropped off in the office. Please do not go to the classroom to drop it off.  Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students are notorious for forgetting jackets, sweatshirts, and pretty much anything else. If you find an item to be missing, please check the lost and found in the multi.  Please make sure that a student’s name and phone number are placed on easily lost items with a permanent marker.

  15. SCHEDULES I  Time Options and Considerations:  AM Slip - 8:25 to 12:02 (Core and Spanish)  PM Slip - 10:06 to 2:11 (Core and Spanish)  PM sessions include lunch. AM sessions allow time only for a snack.  IMPORTANT: Students who are in student care here at Folsom Hills are automatically placed in the AM class. This can not be changed. All other students will be placed into class based on the need to balance gender, age, and special needs criteria.

  16. SCHEDULES II  What is a SLIP Session, you ask…  A slip session schedule is most simply defined as an early/late program for Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students, similar in nature to the early/late programs found in grades 1 and 2.  It is beneficial to both teacher and child, in that it allows for a 12:1 student/teacher ratio for most of the day, with a short, common session encompassing all 24 students in the middle.  The common session will be where students will participate in physical education, computer lab, and library sessions. The small group session (early or late) of 12:1 will be primarily used for more academic activities.

  17. AM/PM SCHEDULE Those students who attend the onsite student care program at Folsom Hills must be placed into the morning slip schedule. Please note that this excludes private agencies such as Brighton and KinderCare. The onsite student care program is overseen by the district. Applications can be obtained from the FCUSD website at www.fcusd.org -> Student Services -> Before & After School Student Care. Beginning February 1, 2016, the Student Care office will begin accepting applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Applications can be faxed to 916.294.2474, or mailed to 2460 Cordova Lane, Rancho Cordova, 95670. To secure an AM time slot in relation to enrollment in the onsite student care program at Folsom Hills, you must apply for the onsite student care program no later than April 15, 2016. Anyone attempting to register for the onsite student care program after that date will not be guaranteed an AM placement at Folsom Hills. This information is on the red sheet in your packet
