SIDEWALKS AND DISPLAYS WHAT REQUIRES A PERMIT? THE SIMPLE ANSWER IS: ANYTHING you put on or over the city right of way in front, behind or along side of your stores and buildings requires a revocable permit
SIDEWALKS AND DISPLAYS REVOCABLE PERMIT The premise of the Revocable Permit is it allows review of the usage of the City property and clarifies that this usage is not permanent and can be disallowed or interrupted at any time
SIDEWALKS AND DISPLAYS APPLICATION, FEE AND APPROVAL PROCESS The Revocable Permit application can be found • at the City of Quincy website, or on The District website under “Resources” tab The fee is a one-time charge of $15 • The approval process is simple and takes • approximately 2 weeks to complete
SIGNS PROHIBITED SIGNS There are several types of signs that have been • prohibited in the Downtown Zoning Districts There is a list of these types of signs on the • handouts

SIGNS FEES AND PERMITS For the most part the fees are based on the size • of the sign, but also sometimes on the usage type The 2 nd part of the sign handout shows some of • the general fee schedules that are charged
OTHER USES VENDING MACHINES By City Ordinance (in the Downtown Zoning Districts) no vending machines are allowed on the City right of way or may be viewed from the exterior of the building even if on owner property
OTHER USES SIDEWALK SEATING Sidewalk seating, tables and smoking areas require a Revocable Permit in every instance In addition, there are special considerations that must be reviewed before these usages are permitted and before a permit is given the City will require an on-site inspection
