FINCH WEST STATION – DESIGN CONCEPT • A pavilion type two-storey main entrance building on the South-East corner of the intersection • Two skylights (in the median) will bring light to the underground spaces of the station • Transparent with clear visibility towards the public areas and street • Landscape treatment will encourage passengers to circulate and approach building. FINCH WEST STATION – DESIGN CONCEPT • Bright materials and skylight will improve internal circulation and improve passenger experience • Stairs, escalators and an elevator direct people from the street to the concourse level where fare gates are located and connects to the TTC system • From that level, another set of vertical circulation elements connect to the public platform where the LRT vehicles stop. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE FACILITY - MSF • An 8,993 m 2 two-storey facility • Bounded by Norfinch Drive to the west, York Gate Boulevard to the east, Finch Road to the south and the Hydro corridor to the north • Will house trains, repair and washing facilities, offices and a parking lot • A 32m set back from Finch Avenue will be used for future City urban development after project construction is complete FINCH WEST LRT PROJECT SPRING OPEN HOUSE: CONSTRUCTION COMING SOON 12
PREPARING MSF SITE FOR CONSTRUCTION April 2019 Monitor Environment before construction starts Protect bird population • Have alternate site in place to attract Eastern Meadowlark, a tall grass bird, from nesting at the MSF site • Cut grass and remove small shrubs and trees in the construction area. • Check construction site during nesting season for signs of Eastern Meadowlark (classified as threatened under the Environmental Species Act) and call a biologist if seen in the construction area. REHABILITATION OF FARR AVENUE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE Fall • Located on Finch Avenue west between Kipling and Islington Avenues Rehabilitation work includes: • Deck replacement • Removal of corrosion and recoating of main truss • Installation protection cladding for Overhead Catenary System (for the LRT’s poles and wires) Bridge deck replacement and related activities; expect delays FINCH WEST LRT PROJECT SPRING OPEN HOUSE: CONSTRUCTION COMING SOON 16
