The fictional character that I found to be courageous was Tris from the novel, Divergent. I thought it took a lot of courage for Tris to switch from her current faction, Abnegation, to Dauntless. This took a lot of guts because she gave up her family and all she ever knew to try for something she wasn’t sure of. She recognized that she wasn’t happy and took it upon herself to make a positive change for herself. Additionally, Tris showed great courage when she fought endlessly during Dauntless tryouts. Despite the fact that she was almost always ranked last, beat up constantly and verbally assaulted, she never gave up. Those negative comments by others almost gave her inner strength, causing her to work even harder. Lastly, Tris was very courageous when she took it upon herself to fight Jeanine from Erudite. Tris often went on missions alone, seeking information on how to stop Jeanine from hurting others and taking over the world as she knew it. She plotted tirelessly with friends to bring her down and fought many people twice her age and with twice as much experience. Tris stood out in my mind as an extremely driven and courageous young girl. She is an inspiration to all of the other characters within the novel.
