FA102a Introduction to New Media Design Professor Tom Klinkowstein fatik@hofstra.edu course blog: https://fa102afall2018.wordpress.com/ Assignment Seven Professional Presentation Print and Portfolio Project Create a professional quality display print that summarizes elements from all of this semester’s assignments. Do the same as a web portfolio. -- In professional practice, large display prints are used to summarize components of a larger project with many components, and to help the viewer make connections between those elements. We will use the print as a reminder of all the elements in this semester’s assignments, as well as for possible inclusion in the annual spring Student Art/Design Show. -- The portfolio site is useful for internship interviews and applications for your first position, post-Hofstra. Process / Elements Part A) -24 x 36” in InDesign.

  2. -Use the template provided as a guide for the layout. Adjust the layout as needed. -Important: Align where possible. Use a flush left, ragged right grid (such a layout promotes clarity and suggests professionalism.) -Use 75-85% of the page space. -Keep spacing between elements consistent. -Line up elements on an imagined grid (or, turn that feature on in InDesign; search for how to do this if needed). -Use the caption text below (in red) for each major element. In your layout, omit all quote marks (“). Your text will be in black. -The rules (dark lines) on the template are to show position. In your file, use a light gray, 1 pt., 20% black, rule around images only. -Include the following elements (listed in order from top to bottom of the layout): *At the top as an introduction and header (14 pt. Helvetica Bold) in approximately the space shown on the template: Research, concept development exercises and media explorations FA102, Introduction to New Media Design (Your Name) Professor Klinkowstein -- *Research Four representative PowerPoint screens from Assignment One, saved as tiff files (File>Save as>Tiff).   4. *Motion Graphic Exploration All the images used in your final motion graphic, plus the letter forming the last ¾ second of the video. The number of images shown on the print will depend on how many you used in the motion graphic exploration. Text caption underneath (12 pt. Helvetica medium), flush left with a column width approximately as indicated on the template: Motion graphic exploration Print at 12 x 18” (50% of the 24 x 36” file).

  5. -- Part B) Create an online portfolio using Behance.com or https://www.portfoliobox.net/school/hofstra (there is a special section created for Hofstra University on Portfoliobox.net). Include selected, representative, quality images from the same sources as you used on the large presentation print. As called for within the site you are using, create the identifying text, bio, etc. Check for appropriate style, spelling and grammar.
