Engaged Philanthropy Engaged Philanthropy The Rank Foundation - PowerPoint PPT Presentation

Engaged Philanthropy Engaged Philanthropy The Rank Foundation operates a model of engaged philanthropy, combining intellectual, social and financial capital in order to maximise impact, whilst leveraging additional funding and support:

  1. Engaged Philanthropy

  2. Engaged Philanthropy • The Rank Foundation operates a model of engaged philanthropy, combining intellectual, social and financial capital in order to maximise impact, whilst leveraging additional funding and support: • Financial Capital : flexible funding, long term support • Intellectual Capital : sharing good practice, bursaries, education & training • Social Capital : networking through RankNet and our Fellowship • Our experience suggests that by concentrating funding, knowledge and expertise in a very focused way, promoting stronger partnerships and increased collaboration, helps to ‘add value’ where the outcome is greater than the sum of each part. • Engaged Philanthropy – video link

  3. How Engaged Philanthropy works in practice • Place-based programmes in Hull and Dundee • RankNet (including bursaries, sharing good practice, digital community platform) • Rank Fellowship • Rank Aspire Programme (formerly GAP) • Time to Shine

  4. Working within the Social Sector • Challenges of attracting and retaining diverse skills within the social sector. • Greater competition among social sector organisations for funding resources. • Social sector organisations need to continue to modernise structure and services to be fit to support those in greatest need. • The Rank Foundation needs to be agile to respond to changing needs and to deliver programmes relevant to the challenge of increasing capacity and quality of the social sector in precarious times.

  5. Moving with the times… • YAP Programme (Youth or Adult programme) • GAP Programme • Time to Shine Programme

  6. Youth or Adult Programme Working with local youth charities across the U.K. The Rank Foundation provided training, access to qualifications, salaries and networking opportunities to youth workers. Following an external review the YAP programme will gradually close over the next three years.

  7. GAP Programme / RAP Programme Working through youth charities, the GAP programme provided an apprenticeship style experience for young people aged 18-24 who wished to work in the youth sector. Following an external review the RAP Programme will be launched in 2017.

  8. Time to Shine Programme Time to Shine works across the social sector and supports those with organisational development needs though an internship programme that connects capacity needs with interns’ skills. In 2017 there will be 36 interns.
