  6. OUR DEMOCRATIC LEADERS IN ACTION  Our county’s Democratic state lawmakers drove game-changing legislation on education, wages, sick leave, reproductive rights, environmental protections, civil rights, and more in the last session  At the local level within the county, Democratic elected officials led the way on climate action plans, renewable energy, urban agriculture, affordable housing, transit, and other policies, while increasing transparency and accountability.  We convened elected officials in our Democratic Leadership Network last year to increase engagement among themselves and with the Party, with upcoming plans to help them exchange policy ideas and better communicate with constituents

  7. OPPORTUNITIES IN 2016  Energy of Presidential year will increase volunteer recruitment and leadership development, with lasting benefits for our Party  Higher turnout will boost down-ballot candidates  Key elections throughout county will enable Democrats to hold or pick up seats  State and local ballot initiatives can mobilize grassroots support and achieve policy successes  Previous years of volunteer experience, candidate training, organizational development, tech upgrades, fundraising, and coalition-building can be put into practice to achieve our mission
