Easter Vehicle Safety Campaign
Brake discs For every 1mm skimmed off the disc the disc runs at a higher temperature.
Brake discs • For every 1mm skimmed off the disc, the disc can run up to 100 degrees celsius. • As heat is the number one enemy of friction material, this will cause brake pads to wear faster.
• Brake fluid Properties: 1. Glycol based. 2. Incompressible. 3. Chemically stable from very low temperatures to its boiling point. 4. Lubricant. 5. High boiling point. 6. Does not freeze. 7. Paint remover. 8. Hygroscopic.
Brake fluid • Get your brake fluid checked when servicing your vehicle • Brake fluid is hygroscopic. This means that it absorbs water. This causes the boiling point of brake fluid to drop. • Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years on the Reef or every year if you reside at the coast
