Information about Dr. Steven Katz and Kelly Fox-Galvagni Dr. Steven M. Katz Dr. Steven M. Katz has lived every dentist’s nightmare of seeing a thriving practice decimated by a series of serious life setbacks, including two years of disability. Yet, by developing the same strategies he teaches and implementing solid systems, he has developed a thriving General Practice, Smiles On Broadway, which has tripled in size in the last 8 years. Most importantly, he is a full-time practicing dentist, so that he is fully aware of the trends and challenges that everyone is experiencing. He has studied Practice Management with all of the “gurus” and admits that there is very little that is new, though conditions change. His degree of organization allows him to present the material in a way that is more easily adapted for the practices he coaches. He is a graduate of Columbia College, with a degree in Business and Finance (1978) and the Washington University School of Dental Medicine (1982). He completed a two-year GPR at North Shore University Hospital (1984) and continues there as an attending. He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow in the International College of Dentists. He has been a Dental Consultant to Fox News (Channel 5) and was the Team Dentist for the New York Jets for 10 seasons. He is the Senior Partner in Smiles On Broadway Dental Care and the founder of Smile Potential, Inc. a Dental Practice Coaching company on Long Island. Dr. Katz lives on Long Island with his wife, Regina and he has three beautiful daughters, ages 18-27. Smile Potential - 2015 “ Make A Difference ” A Key Note Address for Dental Professionals Dr. Steven Katz (1, 2 or 3 Hours) In order to have a “full” life we must fill our days with learning, helping people and exhausting the full range of emotions, from tears to laughter. This presentation will teach, inspire and take an audience on a rollercoaster of laughter and despair leading to emotional triumph. No one teaches dentists and their teams about the amazing potential they have to change lives. So many in our profession are “ stuck in a job ” . They have an alternative to enjoy and appreciate their work. As dental professionals we must embrace the opportunity that we have to change people’s lives, more than just fixing their teeth. We must first believe that we have the ability to affect people in many ways by understanding their emotional needs. In life we are faced with obstacles. We must enable these experiences to make us better and not bitter. I lost my practice to a series of tragedies a dozen years ago. By adopting the belief that we can make a difference, our practice has helped individuals overcome great physical and emotional hardships. The effects far transcend what dental treatment normally provides. The result is that our mission has made our work more meaningful for every member of the team. Our level of fulfillment has been far greater and our practice has sustained incredible growth, fueled by the power of our purpose. This presentation will trace the events, from my practice’s depths of despair to helping a horribly injured team member rebuild her life, to being in a position to change patients’ lives through our dental care. The process begins with showing that we care and that caring must begin with our loved ones and the fellow members of our dental teams.
