USAID in Moldova • 1992: USAID began work in Moldova • 1994: the US Government and Government of Moldova signed an official agreement establishing USAID in Moldova • 2011: USAID Moldova is implementing 13 projects in the areas of: Economic Growth and Governing Justly and Democratically

Agriculture Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project (ACED) Increase incomes in rural Moldova by developing competitive high value agriculture (HVA). • Establish linkages with US suppliers • of modern technologies. • Provide feasibility studies and business plans to attract foreign investment into Moldovan HVA agriculture. • Offer technical assistance for applicants to MCC Compact “Access to Agricultural Finance” program.
Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development II (CEED II) CEED II advances Moldova’s efforts to promote a strong, diverse and export-oriented economy by improving competitiveness and efficiency in key Moldovan industries: - Information technology (IT) - Wine - Apparel and textile, - Fashion accessories, - Home furnishings.
Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development II (CEED II) CEED II also provides technical assistance to: • strengthen the financial sector • expand the availability of capital to businesses
Business Regulatory and Tax Administration Reform Project (BIZTAR) BIZTAR improves the business environment in Moldova by working with the Moldovan Government to implement reforms in the business and tax sectors. • reducing administrative burdens on the private sector • streamlining tax administration, • reducing opportunities for corruption • improving access to government information
