BACKGROUND EPV Solar Inc. (formerly Energy Photovoltaics Inc.) was founded in 1991 in Lawrenceville NJ, USA as a supplier for a-Si turn key equipment. EPV and its predecessor companies have designed, built, installed and commissioned a-Si factories around the world for more than 20 years. One of the First Companies to commercialize Amorphous Silicon Thin-Film Technology. EPV Solar, Inc. became a module manufacturer in 2007 as a result of a strategy change mainly driven by strong demand for solar modules due to the introduction of the German feed in tariff. Rapid Global Manufacturing Capacity Expansion Strategy: 20MW/yr factory in New Jersey and a 30 MW/yr factory in Senftenberg, Germany, built in 2008. Started first Germany plant production in Nov 2008. EPV had the misfortune of ramping its production just as the world-wide credit market crisis erupted in the fall of 2008. Last Production in Jan 2011. Last Operation in Feb 2012.

AMORPHOUS SILICON THIN FILM MODULES a-Si Thin Film Modules ’ Benefits: • Lower cost per watt • Non-carcinogenic materials • Better temperature coefficients and so can generate much more power at higher ambient temperatures. • Generate higher energy yield under low-light and diffuse light conditions ( cloudy days ). Shorter Energy Pay-Back Time ( EPT ) ¡ when compared • to c-Si PV Modules. ( EPT is one of the most important factors when evaluating ecological benefits of PV systems ).
